We are looking for a part-time Family Support Specialist in the following cities:

• Indianapolis
• Plainfield
• Connersville
• Muncie
• Marion, IN
• Columbus
• Shelbyville
• Terre Haute
• Whiteland

The Family Support Specialist works to provide guidance, direction and documentation of visitation. There is some interaction with DCS Case Managers and the courts.

Responsibilities:

Family Progress - Monitoring and Coaching (70%)

• Complete all required documentation
• Oversee visits between children and their parents in our visitation offices or community
• Help schedule visits
• Coach collaboratively – maintaining a balance between teaching and serving
• Provide education and support to youth/families
• Assist youth/families in achieving their goals
• Attend all required meetings
• It is understood that each employee follows and follows the professional standards as outlined by your perspective professional degree, license or agency policy
• Perform any other responsibilities as deemed necessary by the immediate supervisor
• Communicate with multiple institutions related to youth/family matters
• Provide transportation to youth/families
• Attend court with clients and render recommendations

Service Plans / Goal Development (15%)

• Create goals for each family
• Review goals when needed
• Work with other social welfare agencies

Reporting (15%)

• Maintain case and agency paperwork according to standards
• Prepare written reports for the Department of Child Services / Probation office within identified timeframes

Important Functional Skills:

• Excellent written skills required
• The ability to be sensitive to community, staff, and client cultural differences
• Work in partnership with other team members
• Create a mutually respectful partnership with persons served and their families in which they are helped to gain the skills to address any issues they may face
• Can set limits and maintain the helping role of the practitioner and to intervene to meet the needs of the persons served or family members

Job Requirements:

• High School diploma or GED required OR A non-human service related Bachelor's degree and 2 years of social service experience OR Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, sociology, or a directly related human service field.
• Must be at least 21 years of age
• Must have a valid driver's license and auto insurance. with 6 or less points on driving record.
