This is an exciting opportunity to work for the world’s largest youth development organization while making a meaningful impact at the local level.

About the Position: The Arizona 4-H Youth Foundation (The Foundation) Director is charged with leading, directing, coordinating and inspiring the Arizona 4-H Youth Foundation Board to develop resources necessary to support, enhance and expand the delivery of 4-H Youth Development programming. The Foundation Director will be expected to develop and meet metric-based fundraising goals, develop compelling marketing messages and strategies, and promote public and private understanding of and engagement with 4-H. This position has the responsibility of ensuring strong risk-management controls and oversight for an extensive network of club and county-based financial accounts. Additionally, the Foundation is charged with government relations efforts with the Arizona State Legislature and County Boards of Supervisors.

About the Organization: The Arizona 4-H Youth Foundation supports 4-H youth across our state through the acquisition, management and distribution of charitable contributions from individuals, foundations and organizations committed to positive youth development education. The Foundation manages over 80 endowments invested in annuities totaling approximately $2.2 million. These annuities provide guaranteed income to support over 20 different 4-H programs, 35 annual scholarships and the general operating funds for the Foundation.

Cultivate, solicit, acknowledge, recognize and steward donors of all types including individual, corporate, major donors and planned gift giving in cooperation and coordination with the State 4-H Program Office and under the MOU with the University of Arizona.

Marketing & Communications: Coordinate the branding, marketing, public relations and communication efforts of the Foundation: to increase statewide brand recognition and awareness, to provide a clear message of the mission and funding needs of the Foundation, and to promote understanding of the role that the Foundation and Arizona 4-H plays in developing Arizona’s youth.

Financial Management & Stewardship: Maintain best practices in sound budget, reserve, and investment policies and procedures by providing oversight of the Foundation financial management and investment portfolio and work with the accountant, auditor, Board Treasurer and the appropriate University of Arizona officials, to assure the long-term financial viability of the Foundation. Develop and communicate financial handling and fiduciary requirements to club- and county-based account managers. Work closely with staff and volunteers to determine Foundation funding priorities and allocation of funds according to those priorities

Government Relations: Educate elected officials at the county and state level and advocate for funding and policy that advances the mission and programs of 4-H. The Foundation Director must be or become a registered lobbyist.

Administrative Oversight: Maintain the Foundation office in Tucson including managing employees (currently 2 student workers), a large donor database, vendors and all files, data and materials.
