REPORTS TO: Cook-Evening Shift

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Assists in preparing food trays for residents by performing the following duties:

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

All duties and requirements are essential job functions.


1. Dishwashing, cleaning, and sanitizing.
2. Properly cleaning and sanitizing water pots.
3. Prepares beverages for meals according to posted lists.
4. Wraps silverware.
5. Cleans and sanitizes food carts.
6. Assists with sweeping and mopping of the dietary floors.
7. Sorts and aligns tray cards.
8. Participates in meal service.
9. Refills condiments.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

1. Willingness to work in the best interest of the facilities’ dietary goals.
2. Initiate and desire to serve the elderly, handicapped and disabled.
3. Willing to take the necessary time to serve attractive, well prepared meals.
4. Willingness to work with other employees and works well under supervision.
5. Reports to work when scheduled.
6. Perform and satisfactorily complete all daily assignments.
7. Remain in the dietary work area except for break or mealtimes. May also leave with permission of the supervisor.
8. Attend meetings and complete in-services as required.
9. Maintain a safe and sanitary work area.
10. Perform all other duties as assigned or requested by supervisor.
11. Follow dress code of the department.

None


POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

A. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
1. High school diploma or equivalent preferred, but not required. Ability to read, write and speak English. Follow oral and written directions.
2. No experience necessary. Receives on the job training under close supervision.


B. SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE

1. Be able to read, understand and follow daily assignments.
2. Requires communication with residents, families, and other staff members. Contacts required courtesy and tact.
3. Makes decisions in a dependent role and according to established guidelines


C. PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS

1. Must satisfactorily complete an employment health examination.
2. Individuals may not pose a direct threat or significant risk to the health and safety of themselves or others.

Employee must be able to meet the following requirements with or without the use of prosthetic devices and/or reasonable accommodation.

1. Frequent reaching, walking, fingering, and talking required.
2. Frequent stooping, crouching, pulling, grasping, feeding and repetitive motions required.
3. This position requires the ability to lift 50lbs frequently, 100 lbs occasionally
4. This position requires the ability to see.
5. The worker in this position is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions.
6. Be able to do simple arithmetic calculations.
7. Be able to make simple decisions.
8. Stand during most of the working day.
9. Carry food and move small dietary equipment.
10. Be able to climb and balance on a three-step ladder.
