LVN STAFF NURSE OR TECH ROLE
REQUIREMENTS: 1) Current Texas LVN licensure 2) CPR certification 3) ACLS Certification 4) PALS Certification

Must have current licensure upon hire. New Hires will have 90 days to acquire the required NIHSS, ACLS, PALS, BLS, and/or any other life support certifications required for the job.

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES: The Licensed Vocational Nurse administers bedside patient care to newborn, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients, assesses and documents the effects of care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. The LVN demonstrates skills basic to vocational training, and must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. The nurse must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess date reflective of the patient’s status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient requirement relative to his or her age-specific needs. The nursing functions of the LVN are carried out according to hospital policy, hospital mission statement and the philosophy of the Department of Nursing. Documented attendance in an IV therapy course, Completed training in IV management, Basic arrhythmia/telemetry training preferred.
WARD CLERK/TECH
REQUIREMENTS: 1) HS diploma or GED preferred 2) CPR certification 3) Previous clinical experience preferred 4) Basic Cardiac Arrhythmia recognition or telemetry training preferred 5) Must successfully pass Fit for Duty Test
New Hires will have 6 0 days to acquire the required BLS, and/or any other life support certifications required for the job.
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES: The Ward Clerk/Tech assumes responsibilities for clerical as well as tech support of the nursing unit. This may include but is not limited to the following functions: 1.) assist in the admission and dismissal process; 2.) maintain patient records; 3.) maintain accurate communications: coordinates unit communication with other departments in customer-friendly and safe atmosphere; 4.) transcribe physician orders; 5.) maintain an efficient nursing station; 6.) obtain vital signs; 7). Placing patients in gowns in rooms; 8.) Provides assistance with the activities of daily living for unit patients. This assistance and bedside care is rendered under direction of a licensed nurse. 9.) Participates in the nursing process by assisting the licensed nurse through communication, observation, and implementation of care of a group of patients. 10.) Other job-related duties as assigned. All functions are carried out according to hospital policy, hospital mission statement, and the philosophy of the Department of Nursing. Positive friendly attitude and good communication skills.
TECH/PARAMEDIC
REQUIREMENTS: 1) Current Paramedic license or certificate 2) CPR certification 3) ACLS certification 4) Previous clinical experience preferred

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES: The Tech/Paramedic assumes responsibilities for tech support of the nursing unit. This may include but is not limited to the following functions: 1.) assist in the admission and dismissal process; 2.) maintain patient records; 3.) maintain accurate communications: coordinates unit communication with other departments in customer-friendly and safe atmosphere; 4.) obtain vital signs; 5). Placing patients in gowns in rooms; 6). other duties as assigned by supervising RN. 7.) Provides assistance with the activities of daily living for unit patients. This assistance and bedside care is rendered under direction of a licensed nurse. 8.) Participates in the nursing process by assisting the licensed nurse through communication, observation, and implementation of care of a group of patients. 9.) Performs any personally assigned duties for the unit. All functions are carried out according to hospital policy, hospital mission statement, and the philosophy of the Department of Nursing. Positive friendly attitude and good communication skills. Basic Cardiac Arrhythmia recognition or telemetry training preferred
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: Operationally, to the Department Director and administratively to the Chief Nursing Officer.
OSHA TASK CATEGORY ONE: There is an inherent potential for mucous membrane or skin contact with blood, body fluids, or tissues, or a potential for spills splashes during the performance of the job. Universal precautions must be observed, and protective devices worn by the employee when performing those tasks likely to cause exposure.
