Full Job Description

Position: Field Engineer

Reports To: Project Superintendent

Key Role: An entry level position for college graduates with the primary purpose of providing exposure to the field operations and assisting the project team in ensuring successful execution of the project.

ENTRY SKILLS:

  • Bachelors Degree in Construction Management, Building Science or Engineering or commensurate experience
  • First Aid and CPR certified at least every 2 years
  • Active USACE CQM certification
  • Attains OSHA 10-HR certification with 60 days of employment

RESPONSIBLITIES:

Safety

  • Proactively places a high priority on safety at all times and asserts that priority whenever and wherever needed
  • Assists Project Superintendent with implementation and enforcement of HPM and project specific safety plans

Relationships

  • Becomes familiar with HPM's culture and business decorum and how they affect client, subcontractor, and HPM team relationships

Defect Prevention and Quality Control

  • Assists with maintaining record documents such as testing and inspections, progress photographs,
  • Assists Project Superintendent with walk‐through inspections
  • Attends weekly coordination meetings as required

Scheduling

  • Attends training in HPM scheduling technique and philosophy
  • Assist in developing and monitoring schedules
  • Performs tasks related to the collection of schedule data required to monitor project progress
  • Under direct supervision, may draft and computerize short term construction schedules for small phases of the work

Stormwater Management

  • Assists Project Superintendent with implementation and enforcement of HPM and project specific stormwater management plans

Layout & Engineering

  • Assists survey crews with establishment of horizontal and vertical controls for the project
  • Under direct supervision, establishes exterior‐interior grade and working lines for contractors or crafts from control set by others
  • Assists in the evaluation of dimensional and other field problems, referring them to Project Superintendent

Project Administration

  • Becomes familiar with the contract drawings, specifications, shop drawings, and submittals to ensure compliance of work
  • Assists in the preparation of field generated RFI's
  • Assists in maintaining as‐built documentation on site

Cost Control

  • Performs tasks related to the collection and analysis of cost data required to monitor project budgets and progress
  • Assists with procurement of non‐contract minor field purchasing
  • Performs cost coding activities for time sheets and non contract minor purchases
  • Begins to understand HPM's project cost accounting system

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000 - $75,000 per year
