Munich Re America Services (MRAS) is a shared service organization that delivers services to all Munich Re US P&C Companies and other group entities.We are looking for an Enterprise Architect (EA) within department IT Enterprise Architecture. The enterprise architect is accountable for proactively leading technology transformation activities and driving targeted business outcomes. Enterprise architects provide the leadership, facilitation, analysis and design tasks required for the transformation of business capabilities and corresponding application portfolio / tech stack. They partner with business and application development (Business Solutions) colleagues to establish target-state guidance (transformation roadmaps and standards, guidelines) across the enterprise, in order to enable business strategy and successfully deliver projects. This position will be located in Hartford. Your Job:
  • Support upcoming finance initiatives, participate in RfPs and/or PoCs, maintain collaboration channels with internal customers on finance (accounting/controlling/reserving) topics in different entities as well as working closely together with the Senior EA Finance architect and all other EA team members.
  • Participate in the analysis and transformation of the current finance application landscape to detect critical deficiencies and recommend solutions for improvement. In addition, support the analysis of technology industry and market trends to determine their potential impact on the enterprise as well as on the enterprise technology architecture.
  • Assess / cluster / monitor the global finance application portfolio and its in- and outbound interfaces from/to our application portfolios primary insurance as well as reinsurance underwriting, controlling and reserving. This includes risk and performance as well as analytics and data analysis throughout the whole lifecycle of the many different accounting events from source to the final internal or external reporting needs.
  • Manage roadmap for transformation, support the setup migration & transformation projects, provide relevant data / TCO to calculate ROI – Business Cases and give input to project charters, ensure that our TCO’s are appropriate for the services we consume.
  • Develop and maintain a multi-year Roadmap based on Munich Re Target Architecture and Roadmap Development Process.
  • Work with EA peers (e.g., enterprise, business, solutions architects) to analyze enterprise business context (business strategy and trends), as well as change requirements in other enterprise architecture viewpoints to derive the technology architecture future state.
  • Understand technology trends and the practical application of existing, new and emerging technologies to enable new and evolving business and operating models.
  • Define migration plans to address the gaps between the current and future state, typically in sync with Business Solutions and Business Technologies Architects.
  • Assist with designing the governance, assurance and standards activities associated with ensuring enterprise technology architecture compliance.
  • Identify the organizational impact (for example, on skills, processes, structures) and financial impact of the application portfolio and enterprise technology stack.

Your profile

Your Profile:
  • Excellent insurance accounting, financial planning/controlling and/or reserving experience, including (one or more of the following domains: , AP/AR, Subledger/G/L Accounting, US-STAT/GAAP closing, IFRS4/17 reporting, ESG, Solvency II) skillset
  • Solid financial close and/or financial reporting domain knowledge, and good understanding of Enterprise Platforms / Tech Stacks like SAP or Oracle Finance
  • Demonstrated experience partnering with finance business colleagues and working in an agile environment responsive to fast paced, iterative decision-making and solution delivery expectations
  • Experience with one or more of: design of cloud native applications, cloud security and/or migration of large-scale on premise applications to hybrid and/or native cloud environments
  • Experience getting results in a global, regulated industry and designing solutions where compliance and risk controls are embedded to ensure that business requirements and risk objectives are achieved
  • Multi-year working experience in implementation projects of platforms mentioned above
  • Pronounced analytical and conceptual capabilities coupled with the ability to present complex situations in a clear and precise way
  • Excellent interpersonal skills in areas such as teamwork, facilitation and negotiation
  • Sound knowledge of software development and methodology
  • Ability to estimate the business, risk and financial impacts of architecture alternatives
  • Ability to quickly comprehend the functions and capabilities of existing, new and emerging technologies that enable and drive new business designs and models
