About the Role
As an Engineer I at Watlow you will participate with cross-functional engineering teams – supporting existing production manufacturing processes as well as assisting with and performing a variety of engineering work in planning and developing productions, tools, fixtures, equipment and industrial processes. You will work directly with production to solve complex problems and work to improve manufacturing processes and controls.

This position is based in Watlow’s Advanced Technology Center in St. Louis, MO.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Focuses on improving existing products or processes that impact technical area or local plant
  • Actions impact primary team or product line
  • Works under general supervision of more experienced employees or manager
  • Ability to solve moderately complex problems, but may still require instruction and guidance on complex problems
  • Able to translate concepts into designs and actions
  • Provides coaching and feedback to less experienced employees
  • May be responsible for the completion of a phase of a larger project
  • Identifies ways to reduce product, process, or project costs
  • Knows and applies the concepts, practices and procedures in a technical specialty area
  • Mastery of basic systematic/ creative problem-solving tools/skills
  • Basic understanding of lean product development tools and methods
  • Develop product and process solution detail, standards, and associated documentation including trade-off curves
  • Interpret customer needs and define appropriate design specifications
  • Prepare technical briefs and support literature for products
  • Prepare documentation packages for new and modified products and processes
  • Understand and apply knowledge capture and reuse methods
  • Design improvements to products and processes
  • Interpret test requirements and prepare test procedures
  • Conduct tests and experiments and prepare test reports
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or two-year degree and related experience, or equivalent experience (5-8 years)
Desired Qualifications
  • Lean Manufacturing experience
  • Self-motivated to meet team defined goals
