Job Summary

Dominion Energy is currently seeking an individual for the Electrical and I&C Systems department in Site Engineering at the North Anna Power Station in Mineral, VA. Position will be filled at Engineer I, Engineer II, Engineer III if applicant has a degree ABET accredited degree in Engineering OR Engineering Technical Specialist I, II, or III if applicant does not hold an ABET-accredited Engineering degree but has other applicable degree or Engineering experience.

The candidate will fill a position in the Electrical and I&C System Engineering Group. The primary area of focus will be electrical systems engineering in support of operation of North Anna Units 1 & 2. Specific duties include monitoring and trending of electrical system health, preparation of engineering technical evaluations, development of maintenance strategies and corrective action plans, and supporting development of design change documentation. The candidate will work in a broad range of Electrical Power and I&C issues both on the component and system level. This role is entry level or fully competent in all conventional aspects of the subject matter. Candidates will be expected to have or gain familiarity with nuclear power plant design, including the Electrical Distribution System and or the Instrumentation and Control Systems at the station. A Training program will be provided for the new candidate to obtain a required basic level of knowledge for understanding, plant design basis, operations, maintenances as well as work planning structure, including normal and emergency operating procedures.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Engineer I: 0-2 years of relevant engineering experience plus ABET accredited Engineering Degree;
Engineer II: 3+ years of relevant engineering experience plus ABET accredited Engineering Degree;
Engineer III: 5-6+ years of relevant engineering experience plus ABET accredited Engineering Degree;
Engineering Technical Specialist I: 0-2 years of relevant engineering experience plus non-engineering technical degree and/or equivalent applicable experience;
Engineering Technical Specialist II: 3+ years of relevant engineering experience plus non-engineering technical degree and/or equivalent applicable experience;
Engineering Technical Specialist III: 5-6+ years of relevant engineering experience plus non-engineering technical degree and/or equivalent applicable experience.



Specific knowledge, skills, abilities and experience include:

  • Knowledge of engineering theories and principles;
  • Skilled in use of advanced techniques and modification and extension of theories, precepts and practices of the field and related sciences and disciplines;
  • Strong leadership skills with proven ability to serve as team project lead;
  • Strong oral and written communication skills (includes technical writing);
  • Strong personal computer skills;
  • Ability to think analytically and solve complex problems;
  • Ability to interpret codes, regulations and practices;
  • In depth knowledge of various computer applications, with the ability to manipulate personal computer applications and perform engineering calculations using applicable software programs (e.g. Matlab, Excel, etc.);
  • Equally effective working independently or in team environment;
  • Proven decision making skills;
  • Ability to process information quickly and effectively manage multiple tasks;
  • Strong planning, organizational and project management skills.

  • Associate, Mid-Levels: Military service members and veterans with ranks from E3-E5, W1-W2, or O1-O3, plus appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experience as outlined above.

Education Requirements

Required degree (equivalency not accepted in lieu of required degree): Bachelor (currently possess or will obtain by May 2023)

Required discipline(s): Engineering, Electrical Engineering preferred but open to disciplines (currently possess or will obtain by May 2023) OR for Engineering Technical Specialist role-Engineering Technology preferred (currently possess or will obtain by May 2023)
If hired as technical specialist, degree can be related technical degree or applicable experience substituted.

REQUIRED ENGINEERING CRITERIA:

For placement of a candidate in the Engineer job series (does not apply to Engineering Technical Specialist), the following criteria must be met:

  • Possess a 4-year Engineering degree from an ABET accredited Engineering program based on the year that the Engineering program was accredited by ABET, OR;
  • Possess a 4-year Engineering degree from an institution outside of the U.S. which is accredited through the country's own Engineering accrediting body under the Washington Accord as a full signatory, and is a degree that was recognized by the country's accrediting body on or after the date that full signatory status was achieved, OR;
  • Possess a 4-year degree in Engineering (non-ABET accredited), Physics, Chemistry, Math or Engineering Technology and a post-graduate Engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same Engineering discipline is ABET-accredited based on the year the Engineering program was accredited by ABET, OR;
  • Holds or has previously held a valid U.S. Professional Engineer license.
