About the Energy & Maintenance Programs…
Since the inception of the Community Action Committee of Pike County in 1966, the Energy and Maintenance department has been providing top quality service to the residents of Pike County and the employees of CAC. The Energy division has several programs that can provide eligible Pike county residents with assistance to improve the energy efficiency and comfort of their homes and reduce their energy costs. The Maintenance division is dedicated to ensuring the highest standard of appearance, functionality, and cleanliness at all of the facilities The Community Action Committee of Pike County operates in multiple counties. Some of the facilities served by our Maintenance program are the Main agency building in Piketon, the Pike County Senior Center, the CATS building, and all of the Valley View Health Center locations. The Energy and Maintenance department is able to excel through the collaboration and hard work of team members on a daily basis to improve the well-being and independence of those we serve.

Position Impact and Purpose…*
An Energy Crew Member at Community Action Committee of Pike County will be responsible for performing weatherization retrofit measures on approved jobs in accordance with program standards. They will also complete repair, remodel, or new construction work as assigned by the Energy Programs Coordinator.

Essential Functions…
Functional Area:
Provide weatherization and construction services for the organization
Estimated Effort: 95%

Responsibilities, Deliverables, Outcomes and Expectations*

  • Valid Ohio Driver’s License.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Must have proof of automobile insurance.
  • Must be willing to drive box trucks or any other assigned agency vehicle.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Able to work well with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and courteously with clients, customers, and fellow staff.
  • Capable of learning to use various program tools and equipment.
  • Provide own clothing suitable for working in all types of weather conditions.
  • Willing to take trainings as assigned.
  • Perform weatherization retrofits in compliance with program standards as assigned by crew leader or Energy Programs Coordinator.
  • Perform general construction/home repairs as assigned.
  • Requisition inventoried materials from warehouse according to established procedure.
  • Perform and/or assist with diagnostic testing per program standards.
  • Submit invoices to Energy Programs Coordinator daily.
  • Ensure the whereabouts and proper maintenance of all assigned tools and equipment, and report any damage or loss to Energy Programs Coordinator.
  • Conduct weekly vehicle check.
  • Maintain the vehicle mileage log on assigned agency vehicles.
  • Perform general warehousing activities involving loading and unloading of vehicles, sorting, and stocking of materials and equipment, and other related duties as assigned by Energy Programs Coordinator.
  • Perform general workshop activities involving equipment/vehicle maintenance and other related duties as assigned by Energy Programs Coordinator.
  • Perform any and all other tasks as directed by crew leader and/or Energy Programs Coordinator.

Minimum Requirements…
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Job-Related Experience:
Valid Ohio Driver’s License.
People Management Experience:
Friendly, professional and courteous demeanor.
Licenses, Certifications, and Accreditations:
Must have or obtain EPA Lead RRP certification within 12 months of employment.
Must be willing to obtain all required HWAP weatherization certifications for a crew member position.

  • Preference for experience or training in construction trades, home weatherization, or related fields.

  • Willing to work outside in all types of weather.
  • Willing to work on roofs and ladders.
  • Willing to work in crawlspaces and attics.
  • Must be willing to travel for up to a week at a time for trainings or projects.

Job Type: Full-time
