As an Employee Relations Specialist, you will play an integral role in the enhancement and scaling of Employee Relations capability within a defined operating company.
The Employee Relations Specialist is responsible for managing non-complex workplace investigations, providing advice and counsel on workplace matters, assisting with training, and providing subject matter expertise on PPL’s policies. This position will provide guidance to management and employees (non-union and union) regarding conflict resolution, HR policies and procedures, employment/labor laws, EEO, and adverse employment actions to help promote a fair and equitable work environment. Additionally, ER Specialists conduct intake conversations, provide advice on Performance Improvement Plans, Corrective Action, and options for resolving workplace concerns.

This position is has remote flexibility with travel required in the PPL service area.
Responsibilities:
  • Provides front line support in the prevention, investigation, resolution, and referral of employee concerns and business line initiated preliminary investigations by providing analysis of facts/evidence, drawing conclusions, and making recommendations as appropriate by drafting summary reports and presenting recommendations for effective resolution.
  • Provides advice, problem resolution, and facilitation in the areas of employee relations, performance management, corrective action, and other related matters.
  • Maintains accurate, timely, and required documentation of activities to ensure quality employee relations records and metrics.
  • Identifies correlations between behaviors and outcomes to make data driven recommendations on initiatives that enhance our employee working environment and
  • Leverage resources and actively collaborate with HR Business Partners, OGC, and Ethics & Compliance to ensure the applicable policies, trainings, and risk mitigation strategies are in place.
  • Utilizes data from surveys, reports, and other means to identify trends; works with supervisors/managers to proactively address concerns/challenges
  • Assists and may co-facilitate the development of training for managers and employees in a partnership with the HR Business Partner and OD Specialist.
  • Manage employee off-boarding process.
  • Participate in the review, maintenance, and communication of HR policies and procedures in compliance with state and federal law.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 2 years of experience handling employee relations matters, conflict resolution, performance management, or related field
  • Working knowledge and application of HR laws and regulations
  • Strong time and program management, teamwork, execution, and organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communications
  • Ability to build collaborative and trusting relationships with employees at all levels of the enterprise
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree
  • Union/labor relations experience
  • Human Resources Certification (PHR/SPHR or SHRM – CP/SHRM-SCP)
