REPORTS TO: Emergency Department Manager
DEPARTMENT: Emergency Department
JOB SUMMARY
Under close supervision, provides technical support for physicians and nurses in the Emergency Department.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Perform phlebotomy
- Perform 12 lead EKGs
- Transport patients to other departments
- Place patients on cardiac and vital sign monitor
- Perform Point of Care Testing
- Obtain lab specimens and document all care/procedures provided
- Clean equipment and workspace
- Order/stock department supplies
- Clerical unit tasks as required/requested
- Demonstrate positive customer service relations
- Routinely participate in QI projects and encourages department to continuously improve
- Assist co-workers as needed/requested
- Support the Medical Center’s Mission/Vision/Philosophy positively
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance
- Perform other essential duties as assigned
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Currently licensed as a Emergency Medical Technician in the state of Missouri.
- Minimum of six (6) months direct patient care experience required
- This individual should be knowledgeable regarding growth and development and assessing the physical and psychological needs of patients in the following stages of life: neonatal, infant, pediatric, adolescents, adults, and geriatric
- Current BLS required
- Must be self-motivated and have the ability to work within the established policies, procedures and practices prescribed by the hospital/clinic
