Job Description:
This position performs skilled electrical work of a journeyman level in the installation, repair, and modification and troubleshooting of electrical wiring and distribution systems, within all residential life buildings on all voltages up to and including 480 volts.
Job Duties:
30%- Installs, replaces and maintains all of lighting systems and lighting system components such as changing fluorescent and incandescent lamps, ballasts, flood lamps, exit lights, lighting fixtures etc.
20%- Troubleshoots and performs basic repairs to card access systems (blackboard / persona / wireless locks). All electronic doors and card access electronic equipment. Inspects electrical systems and their components for the purpose of evaluating condition, identifying necessary repairs and recommending preventive maintenance.
15%- Installs, alters, maintains and repairs various wiring systems including their components such as receptacles, switches, power supply transformers, conduit and etc. Requests equipment and supplies for the purpose of maintaining inventory and ensuring availability of items required to complete the necessary installation and/or repair.
10%- Assists in training electricians, apprentices etc. and exercises supervision over subordinate craftsman on special assignments. Maintains assigned vehicle, equipment, and tools for the purpose of ensuring availability in a safe operating condition. Monitors the electrical work of outside contractors (e.g. new school sites, electrical system upgrades/expansions, major remodels, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring that the projects are satisfactory completed and within district specifications.
10%- Coordinates with assigned Foreman and/or other trades for the purpose of completing projects and work orders efficiently. Participates in meetings, workshops, training, and seminars, as assigned for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform job functions.
10%- Reads, interprets and works ram prints and electrical circuit schematics. Reports metered readings and utilizes FUR to troubleshoot electrical panels and documents electronically.
5%- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Three years of experience in the electrical trade.

SUBSTITUTIONS:
Training in the electrical trade will substitute for a maximum of two years of the required experience on a month for month basis.
Special or Physical Qualifications:
Due to the nature of this position and/or position responsibilities this position shall be subject to drug/alcohol testing in accordance with University Policy Statement 67.
In accordance with University Policy Statement 18, this position is considered essential and may be required to report or stay on campus in the event of an emergency or closure.
Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds, climb stairs, stoop, squat, kneel and bend their back, climb ladders, and work reaching overhead.
