SUMMARY

Performs testing, troubleshooting, preventative maintenance and corrective maintenance on plant electrical equipment. Works to plant procedures, policies, and regulatory requirements.

EDUCATION

High School/GED or equivalent

EXPERIENCE

5 years + maintenance-related experience in the electrical field – one of which should be nuclear.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS

Ability to obtain Basic Journeyman Electrician certification and task specific certifications.

Ability to complete General Employee Training 1, 2, 3 and 4 (including respirator). Texas Driver’s License required.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Performs testing, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance and corrective maintenance on plant electrical equipment including transformers, electrical buses/cables, switchgear, electric motors, generators, solid state equipment, circuit breakers, protective relays, metering, cranes, chillers, motor operated valves and plant lighting.

Works to plant procedures, permits, drawings, work instructions, policies and regulatory requirements.

Identifies hold points, additional problems and proper replacement parts as needed during performance of work activities.

Maintain plant equipment in an operable condition.

Correlates work with other crafts.

Documents work performed and other information as required.

Provides support for outage and refueling activities and supports the Emergency Response Organization.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

Receives and comprehends general and specialized training and is accountable for maintaining all earned certifications.

Provides training and evaluates job performance to certify others.

Reviews work packages, procedures, drawings, and other documents for accuracy and completeness.

Performs other assigned tasks as specified by Management and Supervision.

SPECIAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND QUALIFICATIONS

Ability to obtain and maintain unescorted access.

Ability to use basic mathematics, algebra, geometry, and trigonometry to perform daily work activities.

Ability to read and follow procedures and interpret and follow electrical drawings and schematics.

Ability to use basic hand and power tools Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Ability to obtain and maintain requirements for Basic Journeyman Electrician certification and task specific certifications.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Overtime and alternate work schedules as needed.

Subject to callouts twenty-four hours per day, seven days per week.

Required to work on and around electrically energized power plant equipment. Working environment consists of both outside and inside work, in both extreme hot and cold temperatures, in confined spaces, radiological environments, and occasionally at heights.

Ability to perform field work in all areas of the plant – including ability to climb stairs, ladders, and scaffolds (stoop, crawl and safely negotiate around equipment).
