Sauget, IL

Responsibilities:
  • Review existing emergency response plans and revise as necessary to assure they are current and effective.
  • Identify potential emergency situations and develop appropriate procedures.
  • Fire Chief / Emergency Response Team Leader for our site's emergency response team.
  • Make decisions with thorough understanding of company procedures, policies, and business practices.
  • Develop and facilitate annual emergency response tabletop exercises for command staff.
  • Develop and facilitate Incident Command Training for the ECT/CCT
  • Develop and facilitate quarterly emergency response drills for the plant.
  • Develop and facilitate/coordinate monthly training for the Emergency Response Team.
  • Develop and facilitate/coordinate monthly training for the Emergency Response Team.
  • Include involvement with local emergency resources (as required) and the community (as appropriate).
  • Ensure that sitewide fire protection systems (sprinkler, fire/smoke detection, and fire water systems) are up to date with inspection and testing requirements and appropriate employees are trained.
  • Ensure that sitewide fire extinguisher training and inspections are done appropriately.
  • Ensure that internal and external emergency communication systems are functional and tested appropriately.
  • Ensure emergency response team is properly equipped, staffed, trained, and maintained.
  • Provide 24/7 support for emergency response needs, as needed
  • Assist in developing emergency management budget and prioritizing expenditures for equipment and supplies used by the response team and needed upgrades to our fire protection systems.
  • Be knowledgeable in appropriate FEMA, NFPA, OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations regarding emergency response and emergency responders
  • Conduct field surveillances and management assessments on Emergency Management Program requirements as directed.
  • Complete After-Action reports and debriefs in compliance with procedures; develop and implement lessons learned from drills/exercises.
  • Assist in the design and development of training lesson plans; assist in scheduling and conducting procedure training.
  • Support sitewide safety programs as needs needed
  • Any additional duties delegated by the EHS Manager.
Qualifications:
  • Ability to motivate, manage and work with others at all levels in the organization.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple activities at once.
  • The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
  • Working knowledge of and experience operating in the Incident Command System.
  • Experience with Emergency Management Planning or Crisis Management Planning.
  • Experience working cross functionally when developing detailed emergency response plans.
  • Good communication skills along with customer relations.
  • Strong leadership qualities with ability to positively influence overall team performance.
  • Implement Incident Management / Incident Command with a strong collaborative presence.
  • Motivated, self-directed, and flexible, possessing good judgment and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong project management skills needed to support internal projects such as expansions, moves and rearranges, and building upgrades.
  • Financial management and knowledge in document control.
  • The flexibility to make quick decisions as disasters change and Certification from the International Association of Emergency Managers may be advantageous.
  • The ability to remain calm under pressure.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from 4-year college or university. BS in Emergency Management or EHS related field preferred.
  • 5-year minimum experience in emergency response including firefighting, hazardous material response, and confined space rescue.
  • Certifications or experience with FEMA, NFPA, OSHA, EPA, and DOT preferred
