POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for managing programs, policies and practices related to environmental and safety compliance, facility security & grounds, emergency & evacuation, loss prevention, and workers’ compensation. Acts as the coordinator and primary contact for internal customers and external agencies for all matters pertaining to environmental, health & safety issues. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensures full compliance with all Agrati Inc and government Environmental Health & Safety standards, policies, and procedures. Keeps abreast of any changes to laws and regulations that impact the organization.
  • Develops and designs action plans, effectively implements plans and sustains benchmark status for all the Agrati Inc locations.
  • Implements lean manufacturing concepts including continuous improvement and 5S.
  • Ensure that all work activities are performed in accordance with established environmental, health, safety, quality, and compliance standards.
  • Performs all responsibilities as the Environmental and Health & Safety Representative for ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 compliance and review. Implements and facilitates compliance programs in support of ISO 14001/45001.
  • Provides technical support and direction for internal and external EH&S programs and practices. Oversees the management of wastewater practices and environmental standards.
  • Provides consultation to other EHS team members at all Agrati Inc facilities.
  • Develops, recommends and implements programs to assure compliance with all applicable local, state and federal environmental regulations including documentation, reporting, permits, manifests, training, and policy development. Coordinates and manages all on-site hazardous materials.
  • Oversees all aspects of safety and health administration. Influences positive and proactive safety programs and practices. Leads and facilitates the plant safety committee.
  • Manages and supports local, state and federal health and safety regulatory compliance. Develops, implements, and communicates safety policies and procedures.
  • Manages all loss prevention and workers’ compensation programs. Acts as the primary contact for all employees on accident reporting, investigation and hazard elimination. Tracks all activity for the facility related to lost work time, return to work initiatives, and restricted duty provisions. Coordinates disability related absences with Human Resources.
  • Develops and administers EH&S training and communication programs (HAZCOM, HAZMAT, confined space, personal protective equipment, MSDS, Job Safety Analysis, etc.). Facilitates new hire EHS orientation and contractor safety orientation programs. Tracks all training programs and prepares annual training plans.
  • Acts as the primary contact for all matters pertaining to environmental, health and safety. Interfaces with vendors, external agencies, plant, division and corporate contacts regarding various initiatives, programs and practices.
  • Demonstrate continual focus on improvements and enhancements.
  • Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.
  • Travels to customers, suppliers and other locations, etc. when necessary.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in environmental sciences, chemistry, engineering, or related technical field. Safety professional/industrial hygienist certification highly desirable.

Experience and Background:

Minimum of seven years’ experience facilitating and managing environmental, safety and health programs in manufacturing plus three years managing or coordinating facilities and maintenance responsibilities. Must have broad knowledge of local, state, and federal programs and regulations relating to EH&S. Must be experienced in safety and environmental inspection and audit processes. Previous experience in acquisition of permits and interaction with regulators is desired. Prior experience leading maintenance and facilities projects and programs is necessary. Must have excellent communication, presentation, and persuasion skills. Must be able to prioritize and complete multiple and diverse work assignments with minimal direction and supervision.
