To meet the stringent needs of biotechnology research and production customers, the company's cell culture sera and bioprocess liquid manufacturing facilities are segregated between animal origin-free cGMP manufacturing and animal component cGMP manufacturing. GeminiBio is an ISO 13485 certified, FDA registered Class 1 Medical Device Manufacturer, aligned with 21 CFR Part 820.

Position Summary

The EH&S Manager will manage all aspects of Gemini Bioproducts LLC’s Environmental, Health & Safety program required for site operation and aspects, including GMP manufacturing, laboratories, warehouses, and office spaces. The individual will be responsible for collaborating with functional team leaders to ensure safety of personnel, as well as compliance with company policies, local, state, and federal regulations. The EH&S Manager will hire, develop, and effectively manage the performance of an EH&S Associate to accomplish all business objectives. Lastly, the EH&S Manager is responsible for the management and oversight of all internal and external EH&S inspections and audits, as well as managing EH&S operations within assigned annual budget.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensures compliance with all local, state, and federal EH&S regulations including written programs, record keeping, reports, inspections, monitoring, testing, and training.
  • Develops, reviews, updates, and implements health, safety and environmental policies and programs as required.
  • Works with Managers, Supervisors and Associates to identify and control environmental, health and safety impacts of operations.
  • Maintains required records in accordance with regulatory and GeminiBio internal requirements, including but not limited to required site permits and licenses, SDS, PPE, training, certifications, inspections, audits, Hazardous waste pickup's, fire prevention etc.
  • Conducts periodic EH&S compliance audits, and regularly inspects facilities to detect existing hazards, conducts risk assessment, determines corrective or preventative measures where indicated, and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented
  • Tracks and reports the EH&S performance metrics according to company and regulatory requirements.
  • Leads or participates in incident investigations and the development of solutions and corrective actions.
  • Coordinates, facilitates, and conducts employee safety training including New Employees Safety Orientation and Safe Work Practices training.
  • Acts as the facility’s hazardous waste disposal coordinator including the disposition of chemical, biological and universal waste streams, and maintaining professional contacts with approved waste vendors.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred (with emphasis in Engineering, Occ. Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or related fields)
  • 3 years or related experience in the implementation and management of EHS programs and management systems
  • Must possess a high level of professionalism and strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Must have the ability to support multiple initiatives concurrently
  • Must be inquisitive and have a strong sense of situational awareness to identify and mitigate safety risk

  • The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. At GeminiBio, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
  • This role is on-site and based in West Sacramento. This is a full-time position.
