Realtor.com is looking for an Economic Data Analyst on the Economic Research team with very strong analytic and problem-solving ability, skills to extract information from large datasets, and expertise in delivering findings to the economics team, media, other internal stakeholders, and the industry. The focus of this role will be to analyze and report real estate data on rental housing fundamentals and the business and economic trends which impact the market.

What you'll do:

  • Work with the Economic, Corporate Communications, and News & Insights teams to extract accurate and timely data and trends on residential real estate, using Move's proprietary data, as well as relevant demographic and economic third-party sources
  • Work directly with the Corporate Communications team to provide data and analysis in response to incoming media requests
  • Help extract and analyze property level and aggregated data on rentals, prices, inventory, sales, and other market statistics to track new and ongoing housing and rental market trends
  • Create and maintain analytical and visual content on realtor.com/research
  • Provide supporting content for market reports, management and performance reports (i.e. OKR trackers), interviews, presentations and articles
  • Support the Research team with relevant data, insights, and commentary
  • Collaborate on data projects with other analysts and researchers in the Economics team, as well as other data & non-data teams across the company
  • Collaborate with third party data teams on topical research projects
  • Lead short-fused research projects and deliver results under time constraints
  • Keep up with economic and housing market trends by monitoring relevant news sources, and contribute to the roadmap of ideas for future analyses

What you'll bring:

  • Bachelor degree in statistics, economics, commerce, computer science or related area.
  • 2+/5+ years of experience in business/data analysis and economic research. Or equivalent through internships.
  • Expertise in extracting data and communicating findings clearly to non-technical audiences in timely fashion
  • Working knowledge of SQL and reporting/visualization tools such as Tableau
  • Strong investigative skills, data intuition, and attention to detail
  • Comfort manipulating, blending and analyzing complex, high-volume, high-dimensionality data from varying sources
  • Experience working with Census, Claritas or similar demographic data, economic time series is a big plus
  • Experience extracting and analyzing big data is a big plus
  • Working knowledge of a common statistical program such as SAS, SPSS, eViews, Stata, R or Python statistical or data science libraries is a "nice to have"
  • Demonstrated passion for learning new technologies, and deriving insights
  • Ability to work in an ambiguous, dynamic, and often fast-paced environment
  • Comfortable working in a collaborative / team-based approach
  • Comfortable with Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint or Google Sheets/Slides; ability to create and present
  • Ability to manage tasks/projects to required deadlines in a changing environment
  • Outstanding communication skills (both verbal and written)
