THE POSITION

If so, consider applying for this Early Learning Program Certification Representative position within the Office of Child Development and Early Learning, Bureau of Certification Services. This is a rewarding position if you have a passion for children and want to ensure they learn, grow, and play in safe and healthy environments. You will have the ability to be home headquartered after six (6) months on the job.


DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As an Early Learning Program Certification Representative, you conduct inspections of child care facilities and assess compliance with regulations that are in place to ensure the health and safety of children in regulated childcare settings. You are responsible to conduct complaint investigations when allegations of regulatory noncompliance are alleged. You also investigate allegations of illegally operating facilities. You travel extensively to facilities located in urban, suburban, and rural areas of the Commonwealth. You are on the leading edge of regulatory and policy changes that impact children and families throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment. 37.5 hours per week.
  • Work hours are 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch.
    • Overtime: as needed.
    • Shift work: as needed.
    • May change based on operational needs.
  • Travel: Must be willing to travel frequently. Travel expenses will be paid.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of professional experience providing direct services to children and youth and a bachelor’s degree that includes 24 semester hours of college level courses in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education, psychology, or human development; or
  • An equivalent combination of professional experience and training, which includes one year of professional experience providing direct services to children and youth and 24 semester hours of college level courses in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education, psychology, or human development.

  • Hiring preference for this vacancy will be given to candidates who live within Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, or Philadelphia counties. If no eligible candidates who live within these counties apply for this position, candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
