Role Summary:
  • Assist and coordinate the functions of the test fleet vehicles, more-zone test vehicles, staff development hiring of external employees, paperwork, payroll, etc.
  • Coordinating work schedules on a daily basis
  • Meet and maintain a core paid driver staff through hiring, training and educational systems development
  • Special testing requirements for Prototypes on public road driving
  • Coordination with the locations regarding the Paid Driver needs and make certain that the requirements across all stations are aligned

Role Responsibilities:

Main responsibility – assign 95% of time spent

  • Daily operations needed for both Prototype, Development and Production vehicles under a wide range of requirements and diversity including rapid mileage accumulation and detailed analysis
  • Training – Paid driver training as well as customer training on vehicle systems and reporting structures. Including: drive details, specific testing needs per procedures and documents
  • Coordinates paid driver testing with management and workshop to ensure correct staffing
  • Ensures proper documentation and proofing end of shift reports
  • Instills a safety-first attitude
  • Ensures product security
  • Coordinates external employee, test and travel expenses
  • Assists with some contract worker HR/payroll items
  • Maintains a team-oriented and productive atmosphere.
  • Assist with a technical documentation and follow-ups as requested by I/EG-Q engineers regarding further analysis and reporting.
  • Reviewing and maintaining documentation – driver reports, work orders, data recorders
  • Reporting and feedback including weekly downloads, software support of technician’s updates to responsible groups / persons all with the technicians
  • Maintain and update all test routes as needed for, More-Zone Vehicles, Special Testing and Driver Assistance specific needs
  • Supports visiting VW Group Test Groups
  • Prepares workspaces and badges
  • Greets test groups when they arrive and introduces them to the facility
  • Helps test group with facility assets: Vehicle hoists, Trailers, Ballast, Fuels, etc.
  • Assists in the shipping of the test group’s vehicles, parts, fuel, etc. both domestic and international
  • Conducts exit interviews with test groups
  • Makes sure all data cards get changed after shifts and uploaded
  • Completes weekly inspection of cars to document damage or issues
  • Assists with vehicle shipments in and out of facility
  • Helps maintain a clean and safe work environment
  • Keeps facility in compliance with VWGoA’s Environmental and Safety standards
  • Supporting of Test Fleet Activities as needed determined by management

Additional responsibilities – assign 5% of time

  • Assists with Facility Maintenance as needed (IT & Security, Environmental)

Qualifications:

Years of Experience:

  • 5+ years job related experience. Automotive background & technical experience.

Education - Required:

  • Technical training in vehicle testing or engineering field of Automotive
  • 3-5 years’ experience in Engineering level vehicle testing

Education - Desired:

  • Engineering experience in Manufacturing / Vehicle testing environment.

Skills:

  • Computer savvy – skilled in use of software / Engineering tools (ALPOS, ATP, VDS)

  • Extensive understanding of Audi systems, Flexray, CAN, Fiber, MMI, Driver Assist
  • Database maintenance and updates
  • Specific computer programs based on VW / Audi Systems

Specialized Skills - Desired:

  • Hazmat shipping and receiving certification
  • CPR Certification
  • Forklift certification and operation
  • Efffk Certification or equivalent

Work Flexibility:

  • Ability to work on and maneuver around vehicles, including tire changes, lifting of up to 50lbs
  • Occasional domestic travel required for business & training and possibly to international locations
  • Often driving a motor vehicle, incl. performance class, special training required
  • Commonly sit at a desk or table
  • Work schedule is typically 40 hours per week. However, travel requirements and special testing will result in extended hours needed on a weekly basis at times
