Position: Drafter and/or Designer (Transmission Line Engineering Technician)

Location: Maple Grove, Minnesota (Position eligible for hybrid schedule.)

General Summary

We are currently looking for a Drafter and/or Designer (Transmission Line Engineering Technician) who will be responsible for providing design and technical support for GRE’s Transmission Line Engineering & Survey department to meet the design requirements and ensure the objectives of the department are met.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Support the design of projects and ensure accuracy by using AutoCAD, Adept, GRE and NESC (National Electric Safety Code) standards and specifications for Transmission Line projects.
• Recommend changes to GRE's Computer-Aided Design (AutoCAD) Standards to maintain uniformity within GRE.
• Use GRE’s PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE software for the design or modification of new and existing transmission lines.
• Perform design duties as assigned for transmission line construction projects.
• Update Maximo and Primavera with project related data.

Qualifications

• Two-year technical degree (such as drafting, electricity, electronics, or architecture) AND
• Typically, 2+ years of utility industry experience within area of specialty (prefer transmission line drafting and/or design specialty)

OR

• Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field AND
• At least 2+ years of design or utility industry experience in a related technical (non-engineering) field
• Experience and skill in using AutoCAD.
• Prefer skill in PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE software, but not required.
• Knowledge of utility industry and its application within transmission line drafting and/or design.
• Skills in project management.
• Ability to meet deadlines with quality results.
• Ability to work within a team environment.
• Ability to identify opportunities to improve processes and enhance use of technology.
• Ability to design drawings for review by engineers.
• Ability to collect and analyze field data.
• Ability to identify and distinguish colors is required.
