Grammy Rose Dog Rescue & Sanctuary is located in southern Maine, we’ve taken a unique approach to dog rescue by housing our dogs in six cabins.

To support the rescue operation, we also operate a seasonal ice cream shop and dog-themed mini-golf course. Grammy Rose Dog Rescue & Sanctuary is an approved 501(c)(3) charitable animal welfare organization.

Essential Job Functions

• Provide compassionate and attentive hands-on care to rescue dogs to include feeding and watering, grooming, exercising and play
• Check dogs for signs of illness or injury and report problems to rescue manager
• Assist rescue manager with adoption proceedings as needed
• Perform regular, thorough cleaning of dog living areas, cabin living spaces, fenced in play areas and grounds
• Support the ice cream shop and mini-golf registration as needed during season
• Oversee and delegate tasks to volunteers as needed.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Previous dog care experience preferred; will train as needed
• Must be able to physically walk approximately 3-4 miles per day and lift 50 lbs.
• Ability and desire to work with dogs of all sizes, breeds and temperaments and provide care in a humane manner in keeping with established organizational standards
• Ability work various shifts including nights, weekends and holidays
• Physical strength, stamina and agility to work with dogs, equipment and supplies up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis
• Outstanding customer service attitude and team-oriented approach to work
• Ability to communicate effectively
• Ability to use computers and tablets to record dog observations and care notes

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $14.00 - $15.00 per hour
