Job description

The Division Controller will assist with the review of all Landmark monthly financial reporting across the student housing portfolio. They will manage the process, accuracy, and integrity of financial reporting as well as investor questions relating to the property results. They will also assist in the training, development, and building of team as the platform grows.

Reports to: VP of Accounting

Direct Reports: 3 Property Accounting Supervisors

Indirect Reports : 13 Property Accountants

Location: Atlanta, GA Corporate Office or Athens, GA Corporate Office

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Oversee key property accounting activities including:
    • Review of monthly financials
    • Manage team’s adherence to property accounting checklists and policies
    • Investor distribution calculations
  • Oversee fee calculations according to property and asset management agreements.
  • Provide accounting training support to new and existing team members related to software, policies, and technical topics with assistance from VP of Accounting.
  • Support internal and external audit activities by coordinating delivery of audit requests.
  • Drive team initiatives to create and implement process improvements as it relates to property accounting.
  • Communicate with ownership groups regarding the financial performance and monthly reporting (in conjunction with asset management).
  • Work alongside internal teams including asset management and property operations to ensure investor needs are being met

Requirements:

  • Approximately 5-8 years of experience expected and preferred
  • Undergraduate degree is required, preferably with a focus in Accounting, Finance, or other relevant subject matter.
  • CPA license preferred, but not required.
  • Experience with accounting software, ERP systems, and databases.
  • Demonstrated experience managing, coaching and developing team.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel user who understands and applies advanced Excel features.
  • Attention to detail and ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
