GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB.
The Utility employee assists in general cleaning and organizing of kitchen areas and works as a support employee to other Dietary staff members to ensure successful operation of kitchen functions.
STANDARD REQUIREMENTS
- ls knowledgeable of resident rights and ensures an atmosphere which allows for the privacy, dignity and well-being of all residents in a safe, secure environment
- Supports and cooperates with specific procedures and programs for:
- Safety, including universal precautions and safe work practices, established fire/safety/disaster plans, risk management, and security, report and/or correct unsafe working conditions, equipment repair and maintenance needs
- Confidentiality of all data including resident, employee and operations data
- Quality Improvement and compliance with all regulatory requirements
- Compliance with current law and policy to provide a work environment free from sexual harassment and all illegal discriminatory behavior
- Supports and participates in common teamwork:
- Cooperates and works together with all co-workers
- Uses tactful, appropriate communications in sensitive and emotional situations
- Follows up as appropriate with supervisor, co-workers or residents regarding reported complaints, problems and concerns
- Completes requirements for in-service training, acceptable attendance, uniform and dress codes including personal hygiene, and other work duties as assigned
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBIUTIES.
- Maintain and clean equipment in kitchen areas.
- Organize and put up stock when deliveries are made in freezer, cooler and dry storage areas.
- Maintain, clean and organize food storage areas according to supervisor's direction.
- Assist in each area of department as needed, including kitchen prep, dietary food service line, dishwashing, etc.
- Cover areas of the department as necessary for call-offs or scheduled absences

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE.
Less than high school education; or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS.
Ability to read a limited numberoftwo- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS.
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with I O's and I OO's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
COMPUTER SKILLS
None
REASONING ABILITY.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to
deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
