What you will be doing:
This is a Long Term, Non-Permanent Position. This Disease Intervention Specialist (DIS) 1 position independently provides a wide range of disease control and prevention services statewide, including consultation with health care providers and direct services to persons exposed to and infected with a variety of infectious diseases, including COVID, and other diseases including HIV/STIs. These services include exposure notification, testing and field treatment, and linkage to other services as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

A bachelor's degree from an accredited college in public health, health administration, nursing, epidemiology, health sciences, education, health education, community health, emergency medical services, psychology, the social sciences, the biological sciences, social work, or a closely related field.
AND
Four years of experience administering or providing specialized health care or public health services or programs with an emphasis on communicable disease prevention, control, education, and/or counseling. The required professional experience includes but is not exclusively limited to such work as a Registered Nurse, Public Health Nurse, Health Practitioner, Advanced Nurse Practitioner, Physician's Assistant, Health Program Associate, Paramedic, Emergency Medical Technician, or the equivalent.
Substitution:
A master's degree from an accredited college in one of the required fields will substitute for up to two years of the required work experience.
Four years of any combination of post-secondary education (3 semester/4 quarter credits = 1 month) in public health, health administration, nursing, epidemiology, health sciences, education, health education, community health, emergency medical services, psychology, the social sciences, the biological sciences, social work, or a closely related field, and experience administering or providing specialized health care or public health services or programs directly related to communicable disease prevention, control, and/or education may be substituted for the required degree.
Special Note:
The nature of responsibilities and work environment may involve exposure to infectious diseases and/or biohazards.
The social sciences include anthropology, economics, sociology, history, political science, geography, psychology, and demography. The biological sciences include botany, biology, entomology, ecology, forestry, and zoology.
