Job Description:

Directs and supervises staff as well as workflow. Department administrator and coordinating with Transfer Center Manager establishes and enforces policies, procedures, standards, and objectives in facilitating safe and EMTALA compliant timely transfers. Effective communication and collaboration with hospital and community leadership. Position has reporting, budgetary or fiscal accountability. Responsible 24 hours a day for the ongoing operation by exerting a leadership role which supports the Tenet's mission, vision, goals and objectives, while focusing on the patients, physicians, employees, volunteers and the community as customers. Ongoing accountability for the continuous assessment, improvement, coordination and integration of the department services and standards of care into the hospital’s primary function. Position is responsible for employee evaluation, meeting applicable regulatory standards, approving supply orders and department strategic planning.

PRIMARY DUTIES

A. FINANCE and REPORTING

1. Oversees budget and adherence based on volume
2. Work with data analyst and finance on patient EBITDA
3. Plans work assignments and resource allocation with full consideration of timeliness and financial impact
4. Ensures accurate reporting of transfer metrics
5. Report out to Group C-Suite transfer data, metrics, growth, initiatives, issues and opportunities

B. GROWTH

1. Support Tenet and Transfer Center initiatives and strategies to increase volumes
2. Collaborate and partner with facilities on growth initiatives
3. Data report and transfer analysis to identify opportunities and transfer patterns
4. Oversees in collaboration with CSO, VP of Strategy role of Transfer Center Business Development Manager and outreach initiatives

C. PEOPLE

1. Work with Transfer Center Manager for timely 30-day interviews and 90 days and annual evaluations
2. Hires, terminates, trains, evaluates performance, and supervises staff to provide professional, courteous and timely customer services
3. Review turnover trends and develop action plans to address unanticipated variances
4. Promotes employee engagement thru staff participation in department operations, meetings and activities as measured thru employee engagement tools
5. Appropriately manages staff in collaboration with Transfer Center Manager to ensure compliance with applicable standards, adheres to organization's policies and procedures, including standards of behavior and safety guidelines
6. Enhances communication between various levels of staff, departments, and customers to promote a caring and respectful work environment
7. Provides direction and delegation in a positive, professional manner and ensures follow-through
8. Cultivates and promotes staff expertise and knowledge relevant to the needs of the specific environment.
9. Assists with the formation, implementation, and maintenance of policies and procedures, job descriptions, and competencies
10. Performs the necessary edits and approvals for Kronos time management system and payroll
11. Develops, reviews and updates policies and procedures, standards of care relevant to the department

D. QUALITY

1. Maintains and monitors EMTALA and other regulatory requirements
2. Gathers and reports quality indicators generated by department activity
3. Support organization strategies to meet timely safe patient transfers
4. Develops and implements action plans to improve patient experience

E. SERVICES

1. Engage physicians in a positive patient transfer experience, receive feedback and problem solve any transfer issues or concerns
2. Provide timely feedback and reports to our internal and external customers
3. Develops and implements actions plans to improve overall safe timely patient transfer
4. Promotes excellence and high-level customer service
5. Interacts effectively and efficiently with management and staff to ensure issues are resolved in a timely manner
6. In conjunction with Transfer Center Manager ensures proper function, maintenance and repair of all Transfer Center instrumentation and equipment, including repair records, service contracts, and preventive maintenance schedules
7. Serves as Transfer Center representative on any pertinent Transfer Center, hospital committees.

F. COMMUNITY

1. Participates in organization sponsored events
2. Marketing and community outreach




Qualifications:


Minimum Qualifications:

1. Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing, Business Administration, Management or related field, or equivalent minimum experience requirements. BSN or MSN preferred.
2. Five years of experience in nursing management in a hospital setting with three years supervisory experience required. Prior experience managing or director of a Transfer Center Program preferred.
3. Registered Nurse License required.
4. BLS certification preferred

Skills Required:
1. Must be able to utilize independent decision-making skills in a wide variety of situations. Requires a high degree of accuracy in the performance of varied responsibilities. Personal computer skills required. Frequent contact with administration, employees, physicians, customers, community individuals and volunteers. Must be self-motivated to complete work in a timely manner to meet deadlines. Computer skills required.
2. Leadership skills including demonstrated willingness to pursue leadership roles with increasing levels of accountability comfort with decision-making responsibilities, coaching, teaching and counseling skills, and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others and to forge alliances and garner support. Ability to apply a team approach/team builder management style.
