The Refrigeration School, Inc (RSI) was founded in Phoenix, Arizona in 1965. RSI trains students in the technical services that are needed today and challenges the student to reach their highest level of academic knowledge and leadership capabilities. Position Summary:

Coordinates, manages and supervises activities of Student Services, Business Office, and Career Services including student advising, registrar, student accounts, and career services staff personnel who are engaged in the process of assisting and serving students.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES FOR STUDENT SERVICES

  • Provide oversight of processes associate with student status change (Leave of Absence, withdrawals/dismissals, program changes, shift changes, graduation)
  • Manage ordering and inventory for textbooks, student t-shirts, and tool kits
  • Manage the school reentry process
  • Meet with and counsel at-risk students to include those who have requested withdrawal and those not making satisfactory academic progress

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Assures compliance with laws, regulations and standards at local and national level regarding student service practices and maintains current knowledge and practical application of same
  • Leads retention efforts for the school and ensures retention budgets are achieved. Work with the Academic Dean collaboratively to achieve retention goals and develop retention improvement strategies
  • Formulates, develops and enforces student policies and procedures which foster and promote student learning and which support the educational program
  • Calculates, Tracks and Advises all students regarding Standards of Academic Process.
  • Hire, train, conduct performance reviews, supervise and support all student services staff
  • Develops and maintains programs for student assistance in areas relating to housing, academic and personal counseling, transportation, and other relevant coping skills
  • Maintains accurate student attendance, academic and financial records; maintains records for audits
  • Complete weekly and/or monthly reports as directed
  • Identify potential problems and solutions through effective analysis of reports
  • Other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES FOR CAREER SERVICES include the following:

  • Planning, developing and administering career development assistance programs for students, graduates and alumni
  • Builds effective relationships with industry consituents and other partners to identify employment opportunities
  • Creates and develops new strategies to support graduating students
  • Maintains department compliance with government accrediation, and other regulatory bodies, as well as meet minimum ACCSC employment standards.
  • Plans, organizes and supervises the operational functions of the Career Services office
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities which include the following: planning, assigning, and directing work of subordinates; appraising their performances; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Complete weekly and/or monthly reports as directed
  • Identifies critical problems, develops solutions, and coordinates the necessary personnel to implement solutions
  • Other duties as assigned and occasional travel required

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from students, coworkers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to top management, and peers.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, ratios and percentages.
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra. Ability to use calculator and/or 10-key.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, CampusVue, and Payroll.

Required Knowledge, Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university and minimum two years’ experience in related field. Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of ten years related experience is strongly preferred.

People Responsibilities:

Directly supervises employees in the Student Services, Business Office, and Career Services departments and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
