The Hotel Indigo Traverse City is seeking an experienced individual to direct our Sales Department as the Director of Sales & Marketing to assist with our meetings and events. This hotel is located downtown Traverse City and has two full-service restaurants on property and 3,500 square feet of meeting space that includes two small boardrooms.


JOB OVERVIEW:
The Director of Sales and Marketing is responsible for leading the sales and marketing efforts for the Hotel Indigo and amazing downtown Traverse City hotel. In addition, the Director of Sales & Marketing will assist with sales projects and administration. Professionalism, accuracy, attention to detail, communication skills, an ability to multi-task, a positive attitude and dedicated work ethic is critical.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Manage client satisfaction through the smooth execution of all assigned events; deliver best service, quality and value to customers.
  • Accurately forecast group banquet and room revenues.
  • Engage in site visits for potential clients; conduct planning meetings for upcoming meetings and events.
  • Engage in pre-convention meetings and act as liaison between client, operations and sales while client on site.
  • Oversee and enforce program deadlines and release unnecessary meeting space in order to maximize hotel revenues.
  • Manage customer relationships from initial turnover from Sales through post event phase to return to sales.
  • Create and develop Banquet Event Orders, resumes, agendas, and detail services utilizing the Sales and Catering system and established guidelines.
  • Distribute BEOs and Resumes for group and events 10-14 days before start.
  • Up-sell proactively, with customer and Hotel needs in mind.
  • Assist Sales efforts, including prospecting, negotiations and rebooking.
  • Ensure the proper use of function and event space; ensure that all events adhere to company policies, fire department regulations, state liquor laws and other applicable government regulations.
  • Generate positive exposure for the Hotel in the community.
  • Prioritize departmental functions to meet due dates and deadlines.
  • Must be effective at listening to, understanding and clarifying concerns and issues raised by team members and guests.
  • Help clients over the phone, through email correspondence or during site inspections and hotel stays.
  • Keep Operational Departments up to date on banquet event changes
  • This position has the authority to make independent choices, free from immediate direction or supervision and makes decisions or recommendations that may occasionally be reviewed, revised or reversed.
