EveryAge, formerly United Church Homes and Services, is an industry leader among not-for-profit senior living organizations with programs that include three Continuing Care Retirement Communities (CCRCs), seven senior Affordable Housing communities, two Programs of All Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE), an adult day health program, a Medicare-certified home health and hospice agency, a child care and a supporting Foundation with locations across North Carolina and in Southeastern Virginia.

This new position is based at the EveryAge home office located in Newton, NC at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains (and 45 minutes from the Charlotte airport). The Director of Philanthropy reports directly to the EveryAge Foundation Vice President of Philanthropy. The position has primary responsibility for development, implementation, coordination, and expansion of the EveryAge Foundation’s overall fundraising program. By sharing the history and mission of the organization, our goal is to educate, cultivate and motivate charitable giving.

The Foundation Director of Philanthropy is responsible for the oversight of and supervision of volunteers and consultants. This position works closely with the VP of Philanthropy to integrate all elements of fundraising with the EveryAge Foundation Strategic Plan; successfully integrates the vision, core values, culture, and ministry of the EveryAge mission.

Some Duties of the Role:

  • Develops strategies and plans, in coordination with the VP of Philanthropy, to create a culture of generosity across all EveryAge communities; solicits funds for short and long-term programs and campaigns
  • Works closely with VP of Philanthropy to develop partnerships with major individual, corporate, and foundation donor prospects.
  • Manages the grants program, including work related to grant writing and reports, proposal development and submission, and the timely submission of grant proposals to private and public foundations, grant makers, and corporations.
  • Collaborates with VP of Philanthropy to develop strategies for all donor related events.
  • Oversees, manages and/or plans special events (e.g. Golf Tournament, Julius Society Dinners, and Philanthropy Luncheon).
  • Ensures prompt and courteous communication with all donors including proper receipting, acknowledgement, and appreciation.
  • Supervises mail and web-based giving and all aspects of donor data entry and reporting in systems such as Bloomerang.
  • Conducts (fundraising) feasibility studies for EveryAge communities and programs or oversees work of an external consultant when necessary.
  • Works with VP of Philanthropy to improve data collection and reporting.
  • Represents the EveryAge Mission at special events, including speaking as necessary in secular and religious settings.
  • Oversees communication including newsletter, literature, website, social media and media advertising in coordination with the EveryAge marketing and communications department.
  • Prepare reports, statistics, and other documents, and provide general support as needed for the VP of Philanthropy, the Foundation Board, its officers, and committees.

Position Requirements:

  • Masters degree in theology, nonprofit studies, or philanthropy, strongly preferred (Bachelors degree required); or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience
  • Courses in typing, business English or the equivalent, and have some form of training or hands-on experience with computers, finances, and budgeting/bookkeeping
  • Experience in database management and analysis; at least one year experience with Fund Development (donor management) software preferred.
  • Experience writing and research with proof of publication or writing samples, required
  • Experience leading special events preferred.
  • Experience in a retirement community or working with older adults preferred.
  • Experience speaking or giving presentations before audiences
  • Experience in research methods
  • Must be able to work independently with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational, communication and inter-personal skills
  • Manage multiple projects/changing priorities
  • Occasional travel and flexible scheduling required

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $58,240.00 per year

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
