Job Summary and Qualifications

The Patient Safety Director is responsible for facilitating the transition from a retrospective, reactive model for risk management to a prospective, proactive loss prevention, harm reducing patient safety program. Promotes a culture of safety. Directs others within the facility towards process improvements that support the elimination of medical/health care errors and other factors that contribute to unintended adverse patient outcomes. Initiates and oversees the development of a comprehensive patient safety improvement program inclusive of the analysis and trending of data. This position demonstrates a high degree of responsibility, accountability and autonomy.

What qualifications you will need:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, or related field, Required
• Master’s Degree, Preferred
• 3 years experience in a position dedicated to either Patient Safety, Risk, or Quality clinical education experience responsible for the development, implementation and delivery of clinical education programs, Required
  
• 3 years bedside nursing experience in acute care setting, Preferred
  
• Previous management experience, Preferred
  
• RN with current Florida licensure, Required
  
• • RN requirement may be waived for other Licensed Clinical Professionals with three consecutive years of Risk Management Director experience at an HCA-affiliated facility
    
• Certification in Patient Safety (CPPS)
  
• • If not already CPPS, must complete the following:
    
  • • CPPS Examination must be taken within 90 days of hire
      
    • CPPS Certification must be achieved within 12 months from date of hire

This role requires you to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 based on local, state and /or federal law or regulations (unless a medical or religious exemption is approved).

HCA Florida Palms West Hospital is a 204-bed facility in Palm Beach County. We offer preventative and elective programs and surgeries. We are an Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) Primary Stroke Center. HCA Florida Palms West Hospital has emergency services, a dedicated New Life Center and a Level II NICU. We have a full-service Children’s Hospital. Services include outpatient rehabilitation, an aquatics center, orthopedic spine center, robotics, and interventional radiology.
