JOB SUMMARY

The Director of physician services plans directs and coordinates several aspects of the department of primary care and specialty care. The Director is responsible for ensuring the performance, productivity, efficiency and quality of departmental and organizational operations and project management through the provision of effective methods and strategies.

Reporting to the VP of the department and serving as a member of the Management Team along with the department clinical Directors this position is primary responsibility is ensuring departmental and organizational effectiveness through the development and implementation of strategies, policies and practices.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Knowledge and experience in organizational effectiveness and operations management
  • Industry relevant supply chain experience
  • Knowledge of business and management principles
  • Knowledge in accounts payable and basic accounting principles
  • Knowledge of project management principles and practices
  • Information technology skills (Microsoft office suite and hospital based systems)

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Improve the operational systems, process and policies in support if organizational and departmental mission- specifically support better operations, management reporting, information flow and business process and planning
  • Manage and increase the effectiveness and efficiency of clinic operations through improvements to each area as well as coordination and communication between areas of operation
  • Play a significant role in long and short term planning, including an initiative reared towards operational excellence
  • Oversee overall financial management, planning, system and controls for supplies and accounts payable functions
  • Development of individual clinic program budgets for supplies
  • Manage day to day accounts payables and approval process
  • Creating annual budgets
  • Assists in reconciling and managing yearly contracts and warranties for equipment
  • Provides consulting services to the clinics on matters related to operational structure and growth
  • Plan, organize, lead and coordinate all special projects for the department while excelling in communication and decision making
  • Problem solve and delegate where appropriate
  • Manage staff or teams where appropriate

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Identify and problem solve in situations for which there is no existing policy.
  • Maintain professional growth for self to ensure current and appropriate knowledge base or area of responsibility.
  • Present a professional image.
  • Uses critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Participate in staff meetings, education programs, committees and mandatory in- services.
  • Demonstrate initiatives in personal/professional development.
  • Assists with control of costs through the judicious use of human and material resources.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements Include

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

  • College degree in business administration, health care administration or management; master’s preferred
  • Minimum of 4-5 years’ management experience in health care field.
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities
