We are seeking Director of Anatomic and Molecular Pathology (AP/MP) to lead the Pathology Department at Acutis. This position will report to the Chief Scientific Officer.

Duties Will Include the Following

  • Expand and lead the anatomic and molecular pathology department at Acutis.
  • Provide expert advice on biomarker selection, characterization and development for cancer screening and molecular profiling for clinical trials and standard patient care.
  • Contribute to the overall strategy and direction of oncology biomarkers including adapting and modifying objectives based on deep knowledge of the subject matter, feedback of team members, other stakeholders, and client considering current/future state scientific and business drivers.
  • Assess and monitor strategic position and marketplace presence of key competitors in anatomic pathology, cytology, immunohistochemistry (IHC) and in-situ hybridization (ISH) including circulating tumor cells (CTC) and flow cytometry and provide scientific input to market strategy and competitive positioning as appropriate.
  • Evaluate FFPE samples for its quality and quantity for downstream nucleic acid sequencing or PCR and perform macro- or microdissection for sections with low tumor content.
  • Evaluate standard and emerging technologies and platforms including digital pathology to aid in defining and implementing biomarkers for cancer screening, diagnosis, and monitoring.
  • Design assay validation or verification protocol, manage and oversee its execution, compile, analyze and interpret data, and draft assay validation report.
  • Draft a lab manual to assure proper sample collection, processing, transportation and storage.
  • Proactively establish capabilities in areas of unmet needs and assess analytical feasibility.
  • Establish and manage a network of part-time pathologists for additional support and expertise in AP/MP to expand the lab services in the technical component (TC), professional component (PC) and global slide reviews and reporting in oncology, urology, gastroenterology and other cancer specialties.
  • Interact with the CSO, R&D Head and other functions to ensure appropriate resources are established to direct assay development or assay transfer and its implementation for a new biomarker test.
  • Provide consultation and address client questions in real time.
  • Manage the budget and resources for the overall department.
  • Provide scientific input into defining value propositions for multiple audiences, including management, clients, and investigators.
  • Ability to train, coach and demonstrate to bench technologists.
