The Role: Director – Business Intelligence

Summary of Role:

The Director, Business Intelligence is responsible for the development of the business intelligence gathering practices and management of data and information. This role will serve as a strategic partner to senior leadership by leading the design, development, implementation, and support of critical business intelligence initiatives and will contribute to strategic decision-making across the enterprise.

What You'll be Responsible For

Primary responsibilities

  • Provide vision and leadership to develop a mature business intelligence platform by acting as an intermediary between the business and IT groups, translating business desires into technical solutions and, conversely, technical constraints into business reality
  • Directs the strategic direction, design, delivery, and maintenance/support of the business intelligence program that will support business priorities
  • Defines, implements, and monitors operational policies, standards, guidelines and procedures
  • Oversees a team of BI analysts and the prioritization, project, and task assignments to meet committed deliverables and on-demand requirements
  • Lead analysis, interpretation and build of data models from business information based on a strong understanding of business processes, SAP and other ERP data and core business KPIs
  • Work with various departments such as Sales, Operations (Supply Chain and Procurement), Manufacturing, Finance, Quality and HR to understand needs, design data models, recommend KPIs and compelling data visualizations
  • Provide technical leadership in analytics, visualization, data warehousing, data modeling, ETL/ELT along with the use of business intelligence best practices and adherence to database and development standards
  • Ensures the reliability, security, and availability of systems for reporting, analysis, and data extracts
  • Lead quality assurance, validation, testing and user training activities related to BI projects
  • Develop and implement a robust governance framework across the BI landscape that ensures strong change management, excellent data quality and data confidence
  • Lead the development of security controls to ensure appropriate levels of data security
  • Hands-on involvement in various reporting activities by utilizing tools and technologies such as SAP HANA, SAP BW, SAP BPC, MS Power BI, SAP BOBJ etc.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of emerging BI technologies and recommend solutions that drive innovation and business value
  • Mentor and develop the team while ensuring performance targets are achieved and maintained

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Computer Sciences, Information Systems or Engineering.
  • Extensive experience and comprehensive working knowledge of business intelligence systems architecture and data warehouse environments including system administration, database design, dimensional modelling, security, reporting and analytics
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills and ability to engage with stakeholders
  • Extensive knowledge of business analysis, business process re-engineering and information management practices and protocols including strategic planning processes and change management principles and practices.
  • Working knowledge of various enterprise systems such as SAP ECC, CRM, HANA, SQL etc.
  • Proven experience or certifications in MS Power BI, Tableau, SAP BI/BOBJ technologies
  • Experience with ETL process working with traditional business warehouse or HANA systems
  • Strong data modeling and visualization abilities
  • Very good analytical skills with an eye for attention to detail
  • Experience managing multiple initiatives and projects
  • Experience with methodologies of systems project lifecycle
  • Experience with cloud-based data warehouse technologies is a plus
  • Experience with data science and AI/ML based predictive analytics is a plus
  • 8 or more years of experience in a similar role
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience leading teams
