Description

Residential Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (clients). You create an encouraging and safe environment that fosters independent living to multiple men and women in their shared home. Our Direct Support Professionals assist clients by supporting them throughout their daily schedules. Full-time and part-time positions available for Portage and Valparaiso. Must be able to work weekends (Sat and/or Sun). Evening and midnight shifts available. Hourly rate is $16.00!!!

Responsibilities

  • Supervise multiple clients in their homes and at community events.
  • Ensure completion of clients’ daily schedules, including assisting with personal goals.
  • Actively encourage clients to participate in recreational activities which may take place in a variety of community settings.
  • Ensure all aspects of appropriate daily personal grooming hygiene (i.e. oral, bathing, dressing, toileting, feeding and hair care) for clients.
  • Transport clients to daily activities.
  • Responsible for medical care for clients.
  • Provide medication administration to clients and follow strict compliance measures.
  • Responsible for following each client’s weekly budget and properly documenting all spending.
  • Perform necessary housekeeping duties as assigned to ensure homes and equipment are clean and sanitary.
  • Intervene in crisis situations and complete the necessary documentation.
  • Attend and actively participate in agency meetings, in-services, conferences, workshops, programs, and other organizational meetings as required.
  • Ensure client satisfaction.
  • Physically transfer clients with or without mechanical lifts when needed.
  • Teach and model appropriate social and interpersonal behaviors.
  • Complete all necessary documentation to ensure compliance with agency and state policies and procedures.
  • Keep current on all trainings and follow instruction given on each person’s plan (Behavior Support Plans, Individual Prescriptive Plans, etc.).
  • Use of your personal vehicle to transport clients may be necessary.
  • Must be willing to work all locations and with all other staff.

Qualifications

  • Must possess a valid Driver's License, with a driving record acceptable to Opportunity Enterprises, Inc. insurance carrier
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Must pass pre-screening requirements (i.e. Drug screening, TB Test, and Background check)
