Job description
The CAD Drafter/Designer supports the Engineering team by creating and/or modifying digital drawing and models to meet product specifications, manufacturing requirements, and company standards. They may also be asked to contribute to process improvement efforts including operating procedure updates, enhancements to templates and standards for mechanical drawings and models.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Create and/or modify technical drawings, schematics, 2D and 3D CAD models of product designs, using measurements, specifications, and additional data from engineering team.
- Coordinate directly with engineers and project managers to understand project requirements, verify design details, and recommend modifications as needed.
- Ensure all drawings and models are completed according to company standards and best practices, including GD&T.
- Verify all product dimensions and specifications using CAD programs, manual measurements/calculations, and research, when necessary.
- Communicate with manufacturing personnel and vendors, as required, to ensure clarity and understanding of the drawings prior to production.
- Assist in ongoing continuous improvement efforts to streamline processes, update and unify drafting, modeling, and design document standards.
Job Skills & Qualifications
Required:
- Associates degree in CAD drafting, or CAD certification plus 3 years of relevant work experience
- Proficient with AutoCAD, Inventor, and Solidworks
- Excellent interpersonal and technical communication skills with engineers and manufacturing personnel
- Exceptional attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
- Trained in GD&T
- Organized and able to work with minimal supervision
Preferred:
- Professional certification in AutoCad and/or Solidworks
- Experience in a mechanical manufacturing environment
- Experience with Catia
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
