The front of house manager oversees front of house and lodging operations at Silver Fork Lodge (not the kitchen). They shape a restaurant-goer’s experience by maintaining the dining room’s appearance, training and ensuring quality staff, and assuring good customer service. We are looking for someone who is a “people-person” with strong organization and leadership skills. A talent for conflict resolution is also important for addressing customer complaints and handling staff disputes.

Front of house Job Duties:

• Leads front of house staff in delivering superior customer service and quality food and beverage.
• Monitors different front of house stations to see where employees need help and step in to help facilitate the flow of service.
• Provides guidance and training to front of house staff members, including but not limited to, customer service, company specific guidelines, job performance, etc.
• Confirms front of house staff have completed all opening and closing side work in a timely manner.
• Manage phones, take messages, room reservations, check-ins and check out’s.
• Provide tours of lodge and/or banquet areas as needed.
• Deliver professional greeting and seating of guests to the highest degree and ensure other staff is also doing so, particularly when a host is not scheduled.
• Ensure staff is greeting each table in a timely manner and maintaining steps of service.
• Provide inventory and maintain par levels of front of house items.
• Enforce and monitor all health, safety, and sanitation standards in front of house areas.
• Handle guest complaints according to provided guidelines.
• Work with the back of house manager to provide a seamless guest experience.
• Ensure that staff is here when they are scheduled, on time for work, and ready for work when they clock in.
• Address and may need to write up staff for issues pertaining to poor job performance, attendance, or other work related matters. In some cases termination may be necessary. In all cases, it is necessary to document the situation and keep the general manager informed.
• Ensure proper staffing of front of house staff; may need to find proper coverage for a shift, for example if someone calls in sick, or may need to cut staff to meet anticipated demand.
• Ensures a first-in, first-out food rotation of desserts, beverages, and other front of house items.
• Supervises all food and beverage preparation and presentation in the front of house to ensure quality and restaurant standards are being met.
• Verifies that food storage units meet standards and are consistently well-managed.
• Coordinates with restaurant management team on supply ordering, budget, and staffing.
• Participates in and coordinates cleaning and deep cleaning duties in the front of house, banquet areas and server prep areas.
• Conducts a nightly liquor inventory and close bar area.
• Closes the restaurant by conducting a walk-through of all areas, turning off lights, locking doors, running a credit card batch and nightly reports, and verifying equipment is turned off.

Salary: $40,000.00 /year

The Front of House manager position starting pay is $18/hour, plus a monthly bonus of $250/month after a 6 month probationary period has passed. Our managers also receive a generous paid time off package that starts accumulating after the first year of work. The front of house manager can receive a season's pass to Brighton Ski Resort or 10 complimentary day passes free of charge (non-transferable).
