Job description
Under the supervision of the Digital Media and Branding Coordinator, the Digital Media and Branding Assistant (Assistant) will be responsible for assisting in the creation of high-quality and engaging media and print content, ensuring that designs align with GEAR UP’s standards and elevates the GEAR UP brand. The assistant will work closely with and serve as a vital member of the Digital Media and Branding Team. The assistant must be a highly motivated, enthusiastic individual looking to gain experience in various media platforms. Target school assignment(s) and work location subject to change based on program needs, per the discretion of the GEAR UP Director. Based on program needs as determined by the GEAR UP Director, this position may be required to work out of various locations including the CSUF campus, GEAR UP target schools, or other locations.
Please be aware that funding for this position is awarded through a Grant/Contract over a specified period. Employment for this position beyond the current Grant/Contract funding is contingent upon continued funding.
- Assist in brainstorming and creating timely and effective content for print and digital advertising, posters, banners, flyers, website, social media, and other promotional materials
- Engage with program participants and community partners through content creation and ideas, while ensuring that communication messages and brand is consistent across all media platforms
- Work closely with the digital media and branding team in evaluating and analyzing social media analytics and identifying new ways for improvement
- Assist with capturing, creating, and editing photography, and videography related to GEAR UP events and programming
- Research and share new technologies, theories, practices, marketing, branding, and techniques for all media platforms
- Aid in researching various departments, such as, CSUF Digital Print Services, IT, CSUF Brand Central and other relevant departments on campus, and any off-campus media production companies as necessary
- Report to supervisor periodically about the status of assigned projects
- Attend staff meetings and staff development sessions (including mandatory meetings)
- Represent GEAR UP and the Center for Educational Partnership (CEP) programs and California State University, Fullerton (CSUF) during university and community events
- Other duties as assigned
- Working knowledge in digital marketing, social media, graphic design and software used for such projects (e.g., Photoshop, In Design, Illustrator Programs, etc.)
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office and Google applications
- Understanding of social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.)
- Ability to work in a team, as well as independently
- Efficient in setting goals, prioritizing, and completing tasks, while being highly responsive to feedback
- Willingness to learn about different software, platforms, and equipment necessary to complete given tasks
- Creative and artistic skills
- Strong verbal, written, and organizational skills
- Successfully clear fingerprinting and background check process
- Ability to speak and write in Spanish, preferred
- Previous volunteer or work experience with GEAR UP or similar organization, preferred
- Associate's Degree or a combination of education and experience including High School Diploma or equivalent and training or coursework in a related field and at least two years of experience performing similar duties

Prolonged standing and walking, talking, hearing, pulling, bending, may carry forty (40) pounds of objects/material, maybe exposed to extreme noise level, reach with hands or arms, stoop, kneel, taste or smell.
