Dietary Supervisor

As the Dietary Supervisor you are at the forefront of the dietary functions within St. Joseph Hospital. The Dietary Supervisor will oversee and instruct employees who prepare and serve meals to patients and employees. This includes monitoring and instructing the team in maintaining the high standards of sanitation and safety as well as in the operation and care of kitchen equipment.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Complies with hospitality rules of the hospital.
• Understands patient confidentiality and rights.
• Follows safe food handling practices and ensures food safe temperatures.
• Familiar with regular and special diets and dietary requirements of the diets.
• Assemble tray racks for patient service.
• Prepare all high protein and dietary supplements.
• Check the accuracy of patient trays on tray line during meal service.
• Inspect for proper dates on food items sent to patient units.
• Check food items for dates on any open containers in refrigerators.
• Make certain that tray line is clean and in order.
• Possess knowledge of all employee position in kitchen and cafeteria.
• Prepare kitchen and cafeteria employees schedule.
• Examine late trays before the tray is sent to patient.
• Check patient nourishment before they are sent to patient units.
• Perform related and unrelated duties as requested.
• Direct shift to insure proper patient service.
• Distribute patient trays checking patient's identity by comparing name and date of birth on meal ticket to name and date of birth on patient wristband.

Education and Experience:

• Possess a High School education or equivalent.

Job Type: Part-time

• 8 hour shift
• Day shift
