Summary Description: Responsible for the setup, assembly, and service of food to residents in the dining room and/or respective units. Performs a variety of food service tasks including some food preparation, and sanitation of dishware, utensils, equipment, and Food Service Department. Assists cooks and Food Service Director in maintaining department and facility standards to provide the highest quality service and products to the residents.
- Performs a variety of food preparation duties such as: washing, peeling, cutting, and chopping fruits and vegetables for salads or desserts; preparation dessert items; pour beverages; puree or grind fruits, vegetables, and desserts; prepare special nourishments
- and snacks; and assemble sandwiches. Utilizes correct portion control guidelines and utensils.
- Carries pans, kettles, and trays of food and beverages to and from work stations, stove, and refrigerator.
- Reads and correctly interprets regular and modified menus in preparing and portioning food items for meal service.
- Reads resident diet cards to ensure meals are served accurately according to diet order and resident preferences.
- Serves correct diet to each resident. Checks meal trays for accuracy before they leave the kitchen area. Meets established time frames for meal service.
- Serves food to residents and staff in an attractive and courteous manner. Communicates with residents during meal times to enhance homelike dining experience.
- Transports food carts to resident wings in a safe manner. Returns food carts to dish room after residents have eaten.
- Sets dining room tables for meals as instructed by FSD.
- Clears tables of dishes and trash after meal service. Removes solid linens from tables and brings to laundry. Avoids brushing crumbs from tables and chairs onto dining room floor.
- P.M. Dietary Aide responsible for vacuuming dining room floor as assigned.
- Performs dishwashing, pot washing and cleaning duties per sanitation and infection control guidelines. Operates dish machine including filling, set-up and draining. Scraps, rinses, and loads soiled trays, dishware, and utensils into dish machine. Unloads clean dishes and silverware and returns to proper storage areas.
- Fills and sets up pot sink according to pot washing procedure. Washes, rinses, and sanitizes all pots. Allows pots to air dry.
- Cleaning, washing, and sanitizing of equipment will include, but not limited to, dishwasher, food carts, food prep equipment, refrigerator, freezer, sinks, and work tables.
- Maintains clean, neat, and orderly work areas.
- Prepares nourishments and snacks according to established procedures and delivers to nurses station.
- Utilizes food, supplies and equipment properly and without waste.
- Follows all safety, security, infection control, Universal precautions, and hazardous materials policies and procedures. Performs all tasks to assure resident and personal safety.
- Thinks and acts calmly and logically to meet unusual occurrences of the job.
- Attends all department meetings, in-services, and classes as assigned.
- Shares ideas with FSD or co-workers that may improve department operation or resident care.
- Works extra hours as needed and scheduled by FSD.
- Maintains a good mental and physical health and stamina.
- Performs any miscellaneous work assignments as may be required.
