Technician

The Technician maintains diesel equipment operation by completing inspections and preventive maintenance requirements, correcting vehicle deficiencies, making adjustments and alignments, and keeping complete and accurate records of repairs and maintenance procedures.

Major areas of responsibility include:

• Focus all activities first and foremost around your safety, your fellow technician safety, equipment safety, and the motoring public’s safety.
• Communicate with the customer (driver/operations) to determine their needs and advise of the work done
• Complete repair orders, timecards, and other required documents
• Perform preventive maintenance inspections
• Perform annual vehicle inspections IAW CFR 49, part 396.
• Repair Class 8 vehicles, including engines, HVAC, instruments, brakes, frame, steering, suspension, tires, wheels, drive train, electrical system, trailers, refrigeration, liftgates, and other components
• Assist in maintaining a clean and orderly shop
• Participate in process and quality improvement activities

Note: These are the major functions and accountabilities required of the position and are the predominant criteria by which performance will be assessed. OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES:

• Experience preferred but not required
• 1 year of related experience preferred or vocational degree but not necessary
• Ability to pass pre-employment DOT physical and drug screen
