Harvard University Employees Credit Union (HUECU) is seeking a dynamic, energetic employee with outstanding communication skills and a passion for member service! Our ideal candidate will focus on providing exceptional member experience in all member touch-points, in-person, phone interactions and digital communications. Employee will be responsible for providing timely, accurate service to all members and co-workers.
A successful candidate needs to be exceptionally organized with a strong attention to detail, be proactive, able to ensure that system and member information is accurate, and work independently. The purpose of this job is to validate information captured on the DNA Core System as well as verifying that all member account maintenance is completed in accordance with approved policies and procedures. This position assists and maintains records for student organizations with all Harvard schools.
Position Description
- Corresponds with members and staff to resolve any Harvard Student Organization issues utilizing departmental group emails.
- Works closely with HUECU AVP - Community Engagement and Harvard University Student Organizations to produce and provide requested statements, data, and reports.
- Independently manages on campus/Zoom meetings with student organizations, university staff and internal staff as needed to be sure that all needs of the organizations are being met to the standards set in place.
- Opens and services all types of membership accounts, for new and existing members including Power of Attorney, Trust and Organization accounts.
- Assist student orgs with setting up and troubleshooting online and mobile access – including Zelle.
- Assists Compliance and Account Research staff as necessary with response to subpoenas and other legal requests for information, as necessary.
- Review new deposit accounts, debit card orders and file maintenance assessment to be sure all documents or authorizations are obtained from domestic and foreign members.
- Verify all member documentation was properly reviewed.
- Verify that documentation for members and accounts have been saved within the appropriate areas.
- Review daily and monthly reporting for any discrepancies in member information, which includes but not limited to; address changes, names changes and death notifications.
- Extensive research to make sure internal policies are being followed when changes are being made to a member’s profile and or accounts.
- Document, monitor, and follow up on any findings handled by HUECU employees. Communication will be handled independently. Issues that cannot be handled independently, will then be escalated to the Deposit Operations Manager.
- Places restrictions on accounts when mail is returned for bad addresses on an as needed basis.
- Keep Deposit Operations Manager informed of inconsistencies to identify any training needs within HUECU.
- Expected to support other departmental positions or units performing similar functions.
- Serves as principal source of information to staff on policies and procedures within area of responsibility.
- Performs other job-related duties and projects as necessary.
Basic Qualifications
- High school diploma required.
- A minimum of 4 years related banking, credit union, financial services operations and/or accounting experience required.
Additional Qualifications and Skills
- Previous accounting/customer service experience in a bank or credit union environment highly desired.
- Strong analytical skills are required to access risks within specific job responsibilities including handling of confidential information.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize while processing extremely detail-oriented and time-sensitive functions in a fast-paced environment.
- Successful candidate will be a “team player” with flexibility to adapt if needs of the department/HUECU change.
- PC literate in Windows Excel, Word, and Adobe.
- Comfort working in the diverse and multicultural environment of Harvard University.
- Knowledge of industry regulations is preferred.
- Understanding of payment functions and products preferred. AAP or NCP certification is a plus.
- Ability to work on multiple initiatives simultaneously.
- Mature and professional communication and customer services skills necessary to write high-quality business letters and emails independently.
- Must be able to access Credit Union systems via VPN to be able to perform job functions remotely during snow emergencies or other situations when coming to the office is not possible. May be expected to perform some required duties remotely on Harvard University holidays that are not Federal Reserve holidays (For example, the Friday after Thanksgiving).
Working Conditions
Interviews for this position may be conducted via telephone & Zoom video conferencing, based on the department’s current presence on campus.
Harvard University Employees Credit Union (HUECU) is an on-campus community, and all positions are based in Boston and Cambridge.
The majority of jobs at HUECU are hybrid remote/office. During the initial 90-day training period, new employees may be expected to work in the office more frequently, up to full-time. When appropriate, remote work must be performed in a state in which Harvard is registered (CA, CT, GA, IL, MA, MD, ME, NH, NJ, NY, RI, VA, VT, and WA). Additional details and expectations will be discussed during the interview process.
