Position Purpose:

It is the role of the Dean of Students to come alongside our students, guide them, direct them, and lead them to graduation. In doing this, also make sure that the experience of the student is the best it can be, and if needed help implement changes and improvements to improve on their experience.

This role oversees or might be a stakeholder in all aspects of a students life and participation in Charis Bible College (CBC), from enrollment to graduation. To oversee that policies are being carried out within the student body, including administering policies and procedures regarding enrollment, tuition, student conduct, attendance, and general school policies.

Essential Duties:

  • The Dean of Students oversees the Student Advisors, Vetting Coordinator, and the Student Advisor administrator.
  • Manages the coaching and training of the team.
  • If approved, be available to teach, make announcements, and give direction to students from the stage.
  • Conduct regular department evaluations to determine efficiency and recommend solutions for improvement.
  • Creating and implementing department goals, policies, budgets, and working procedures.
  • Measure daily Student Advisor tasks for overall team health.
  • Preparing annual statistical reports.
  • Assist and supervise application vetting and Background checks with the vetting Coordinator.
  • Oversee and supervise the management of student attendance and discipline records.
  • Communicate to parents, teachers, and staff regarding infractions of the code of conduct, academic integrity, or other policies.
  • The ability to communicate well with various types of people, handle confidential information appropriately, maintain a courteous, professional, and respectful attitude, and integrity in all situations are prerequisites.
  • Establish policies and procedures for handling challenging students situations, support, and resources.
  • Build rapport with the student body and get a pulse of what the student experience is at Charis.
  • Assess the needs of the student body and communicate this effectively to other departments for the continual improvement of the student experience.
  • Providing support to students on issues related to the institution's policies, department processes, and student services.
  • Administer and enforce Student Handbook policies and procedures regarding student activities, tuition, attendance, dress code, and other handbook policies.
  • Uphold disciplinary protocol, when needed, for student behavior that violates Charis Handbook policy, both on and off campus.
    • This includes but is not exclusive to, mission trip behavior.
  • Oversee and implement updates to the Student Handbook and reference guide every year.
  • Collaborate with the Security Team regarding campus safety and student conduct.
  • Participate in the creation and implementation of the campus's emergency evacuation and preparedness plan.
  • Maintain good communication with Charis Director and other departments.
  • Assist faculty in the organization and planning of campus-wide events and programs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must demonstrate mastery of using Biblical principles in enforcing policies.
  • Must demonstrate mature Christian behavior and have excellent relational skills.
  • Must be able to interact with hundreds of students and have a genuine heart of ministry for the students.
  • Must be able to deal with confidential information discreetly and professionally in all matters.
  • Must be able to work with various staff positions and effectively communicate student issues with them when needed.
  • Must demonstrate good time management and problem-solving skills.
  • Must have effective public speaking skills.
  • Perform with integrity and professionalism in every work situation.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with people from various cultures, demographics, and social statuses.
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Smartsheet, or other project management software.

Requirements:

  • Must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Must sign the Statement of Faith.
  • Must demonstrate a mature Christian testimony and have a heart for the students and Andrew Wommacks vision for Charis Bible College.
  • A minimum of an associate degree in a related field or ministry is required.
  • 3rd-year Charis Bible College graduate is preferred.
  • Must pass all required checks.

Experience:

  • Ministry experience is strongly preferred.
  • Compensation is commensurate with experience.
