Position: De-escalation Agent

Summary of Position:

Bloom is searching for a reliable and trustworthy De-escalation Agent, to complement its staff at its cannabis dispensary. The De-escalation Agent should be able to remove or restrain anyone who would threaten the safety of employees or patients.

Outstanding candidates should be physically fit, able to react appropriately in stressful situations, and have deep empathy and respect for others.

Security is vital to protecting our customers, staff, products, and assets. De-escalation Agent, will provide a physical presence in and around the company facility to monitor and regulate traffic flow and pedestrian access to the dispensary. The De-escalation Agent will be stationed in the security office to validate customer credentials and monitor customer activities on our premises. They will also roam throughout and around the facility to provide a physical deterrent during business hours.

Security personnel will wear uniforms and are outfitted with radios, alarms, cameras, scanners, and a large flashlight.

Security personnel also perform mobile security checks of the parking areas to provide a physical deterrent. They will also monitor the perimeter of the facility and adjacent parking lots through the company’s electronic video monitoring systems. Watchmen assist during emergencies and contact law enforcement and/or emergency services when required.

Responsibilities:

• Communicate clearly and concisely with GMs and Store Security Officer
• Protect company products, assets, customers, and employees
• Be present during all store deliveries and cash pick-ups
• Protect company information and secrets when in public
• Ensure computer and equipment security, including off-site use of Bloom equipment
• Serve as Access Control Manager
• Complete Incident Reports, when needed
• Investigate inventory discrepancies
• Report out-of-the-norm activity in and around store
• Develop solid partnerships with law enforcement and regulators
• Be Well Versed in Security & Safety Protocols, including:
• Robbery Prevention Procedures
• Diversion Prevention
• De-escalation Tactics
• Emergency Response
• Customer Service Skills
• Greet customers during check-in
• Perform regular maintenance on alarm, camera systems, and access control systems
• Help to ensure building security
• Enforce Customer Bans when applicable
• Serve as a security presence to ensure employees remain safe as they depart the building at the end of the night.
• Remain calm when alarms are triggered and escort people to safety
• Apprehend guilty parties when required
• Respond to calls for help and contact fire department or law enforcement if required
• Assist during emergencies to ensure minimal injury to people and damage to property
• Remove or restrain those who threaten the safety of others or disturb the peace
• Wear security uniform when required
• Follow directions and work as part of a team to ensure staff and patient safety
• Undertake all tasks with integrity and professionalism

Qualifications:

• Must be over the age of 21
• Must be a United States Citizen or authorized to work in the U.S.
• Must be able to pass an extensive criminal background check
• Must live within 30 minutes of the Dispensary
• College degree preferred
• A clean criminal record
• A relevant license and certification
• Physical fitness, strength, and mental agility
• Previous security experience would be advantageous
• Excellent observation skills
• Ability to remain calm and focused under pressure
• A solid understanding of safety protocols.
• A valid driver’s license

Skills:

• Proper license or be eligible for license.
• Must be friendly, outgoing, trustworthy, dependable, and hardworking.
• Must be able to provide compassionate patient service.

Physical Requirements:

The successful candidate for the watchperson position must meet the physical demands described here to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to speak, hear, and listen. The employee must be able to stand, walk, and use both hands and fingers to reach and grasp. The employee must frequently lift and/ or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/ or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

This job operates in a professional dispensary environment. The De-escalation Agent will have to routinely utilize standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, inventory, and point-of-sale systems.
