We are looking for a Data Clerk – Operational Services to assist our maintenance department in processing data and work progress performed by our contracting partners. The individual will work with Rio Tinto Kennecott coordinators who schedule and oversee the maintenance task. The role will capture maintenance task progress to completion including hours assigned to the task and subsequent work recommended. As our contracting partners complete inspections to meet statutory regulations, the individual in this role will capture and track this data to ensure the company is meeting compliance requirements. The role will have accountability for processing this data for all Rio Tinto Kennecott Operational Services sites including the Mine, Concentrator, Tailings, Smelter, Refinery and General Plant Facilities.

Reporting to the Operational Services - Manager, and working in a diverse team within Rio Tinto, you will:

• Confirm time to work orders issued to contractors
• Close work orders when contractor complete work
• Create subsequent work orders for follow-up work
• Paying supplier and contractor invoices
• Logging and tracking work requiring compliance inspections
• Contractor Compliance through Avetta (our contractor portal).
• Assist with Contractor Management and the adherence to the Rio Tinto processes and guidelines.
• Working knowledge of office equipment and computer hardware.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel software
• Basic understanding of databases
• Fast typing skills

What you’ll bring

• A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team

• A High school diploma or GED
• 2+ years of data entry experience
• Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization
• Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite

It will also be beneficial if you have:

• Experience working with databases (eg SAP)

Where you’ll be working

Our Kennecott mine is a world-class, fully integrated copper mining operation, including a concentrator, smelter and refinery, located just outside Salt Lake City, Utah, in the United States. We produce copper, precious metals including gold and silver, molybdenum and sulfuric acid. Kennecott has been mining and processing minerals from the rich ore body of the Bingham Canyon Mine since 1903, and is one of the top producing mines in the world, comprising approximately 11 percent of U.S. annual copper production.
