JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Penn State Global is seeking an independent and dynamic Customized Programs Coordinator to join the Customized Programs team within Education Abroad at Penn State . Student participation and faculty engagement in short-term education abroad programs have grown in recent years. Penn State maintains one of the most robust and diverse portfolios of short-term, faculty-led programs in the United States. The program coordinator works closely with the program manager, faculty program leaders, and other members of the Penn State Global system to help facilitate logistics and travel, financial arrangements related to external vendors, and administrative details of internal and public program information.

Job Responsibilities and Requirements

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Assist in coordinating customized programs budget preparation and initiating payments

  • Process all course/program registrations for customized programs

  • Coordinate the recruitment and hiring of faculty/program leaders

  • Provide routine program logistics/maintain requirements or activities to ensure the quality of programs

  • Create and update documents and text for website and maintain web pages

  • Assist in delivering training, programs, courses, etc.

  • Make recommendations on changes/additions to both policies and portfolio of offerings based on customer feedback, evaluations, historical data, and systems capabilities

  • Participate on campus and college committees, at community events, meetings, and affiliated activities

  • Create reports and program documentation for faculty/program leaders and other stakeholders

  • May represent the unit at internal and external meetings with stakeholders

Education and Experience:

This position typically requires an Associate’s degree or higher or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • An ideal candidate will be collaborative in their working style and demonstrate a drive for teamwork

  • Have flexible working styles to meet needs of students, faculty, staff and colleagues across the commonwealth

  • Applicants should excel in the application and use of information technology

  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion practices and demonstrated commitment to successfully supporting diverse student and/or faculty/staff populations

  • Commitment to learn about The Forum on Education Abroad's Guidelines for Advancing the UN Sustainable Development Goals; willingness to learn more and develop and/or implement strategies to advance sustainable practices and educational opportunities into office procedures and study abroad programs.

  • A Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.

The nature of this position involves supporting faculty, staff, and students across the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and regular interactions with colleagues at Penn State. Remote work options and/or flexible/hybrid work arrangements may be considered in consultation with the candidate, the supervisor, and Human Resources. Periodic in-person work at University Park is a requirement of the position, so interested candidates should consider their ability to travel to the specific campus several times per semester.
