Working Conditions:

  • Full-Time Employment
  • Hourly Wages (straight time 40 hours/week, 1.5X Wage for Overtime)
  • Hours: 8 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday (½ hour lunch, unpaid) during low season. Overtime hours as assigned. Agronomy season may require switch to second shift, overtime hours, and/or weekend hours. Schedule to be determined by Facility Manager.

Supervision
Role reports to Customer Application and Agronomy Manager, who provides daily direction and coordinates work teams.

Scope of Responsibilities

  • This is a precision job which requires attention to detail in all aspects.
  • The role will require continuing education to maintain current license with the MDA or other supervisory body to legally apply prescribed products.
  • Will work closely with agronomy manager to fulfill custom application work orders.
  • Supervision of tender drivers in conjunction with agronomy manager to ensure adherence to company policies and procedures outlined in the employee handbook will be necessary
  • Ensure daily operations are being completed, and provide efficient, friendly and precise service to customers.
  • Ensure duties are being properly performed and understand the importance of precision application of all products, dry and liquid.

Job Requirements

  • Housekeeping: It is company policy to require a safe and healthy workplace, with proper housekeeping important for safe operations. Dust control inside and outside must be maintained at minimal levels; spilled product must be cleaned up promptly and returned to inventory or moved to a safe area. Facility appearance is also important, ensuring steps are taken to enhance and improve the premises of location and equipment. Storm water management of all diked areas must be maintained to current standards, including documentation of such.
  • Shipping and Receiving: Coordination and supervision of shipping and receiving activities, including loading and unloading trucks and railcars (grain, chemicals, liquid and dry fertilizer). Will operate equipment and vehicles, occasionally requiring lifting, shoveling and climbing. Assist in fertilizer blending operations and customer vehicle loading, making sure not to overload spreaders, tenders, and spaying equipment. Role will require organizing chemical and fertilizer storage areas as product is received, and keeping dike areas clean and free of debris.
  • Equipment Operation and Maintenance: Assist in maintenance projects requiring permits, welding, cutting or carpentry skills. Assists in maintenance in the plants and on equipment (including vehicles, fork trucks, loaders, and application equipment), ensuring scheduled or routine maintenance is completed so all equipment is kept in good working condition, and keeps a log of such maintenance. Will inform the Facility Manager of all major maintenance needs, help make recommendations of equipment which needs replacement, or suggestions for new equipment needs which will make the plant and application equipment more efficient.
  • Physical Requirements: Physical condition must not limit ability to climb (highest point 250’), lift at least 20#, get in and out of confined spaces, or the wearing of protective gear. Good vision and hearing are essential to personal safety and the safety of co-workers. Some operations may require the wearing of protective gear that may seem heavy or restrictive. Safety is a priority in performing all company functions, including following all company policies and procedures.
  • Tasks as Assigned: Other tasks as assigned by the Facility or Agronomy Manager.
  • Safety: PPE selection must be done and utilized by all applicators and tender drivers at all times. Field awareness is crucial to quality application. Applicators must always be aware of weather conditions that may create unacceptable conditions to nearby fields and residential areas. It is also required to complete walk around inspections before re-entering roadways and ensure cautious roadway re-entry with large equipment. Safety is top priority.
