Responsibilities:
Operates computerized tomography equipment to produce films of designated portions of the human body for neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
Collects pertinent medical information and reviews physician’s order to identify reason for examination and potential contraindications.- Explains procedure to patient and ensures consent form is signed if required for examination.
- Positions patient administers oral or intravenous contrast as required. Monitors patient reaction and responds to adverse reactions with emergency procedures as necessary.
- Selects equipment parameters and logs pertinent information.
- Performs scanning procedure. Modifies parameters as required to improve visualization of desired anatomy.
- Organizes images, performs the scan and transfers exam to PACS system.
- Enters patient charges into computer.
- Performs minor maintenance and repairs on Computerized Tomography (CT) equipment. Refers other problems to the Radiology Supervisor.
- Assists in orienting and training personnel as necessary.
- Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Immediately reports any mechanical or electrical equipment malfunctions, unsafe conditions, or employee/patient/visitor injury‑accident to Manager.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of accredited school of Radiologic Technology.
- Registered CT Technologist from ARRT(CT) or NMTCB (CT).
- Basic knowledge of cross‑sectional anatomy.
- Ability to insert intravenous catheter.
- Ability to deal tactfully and pleasantly with various types of patients, visitors, physicians and other personnel.
- Certified in cardio‑pulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
Preferred:
- Prior training or experience in Computerized Tomography (CT) scanning.
