General Description
The Costume Shop Staff/Stitcher position works in the Department of Theatre Costume Shop, located in the Center for the Arts, and is responsible for assisting with the sourcing, construction, and maintenance of costumes used in University productions as well as helping to maintain all associated support spaces like dressing rooms, fitting areas, and costume storage.
Essential Job Duties
Include – working with a team to achieve all production deadlines as they relate to costuming a production
- cutting, sewing, altering, repairing, cleaning, and maintaining any all all costumes used by the department
- working a minimum of eight hours per week
- following all instructions given by the shop supervisor
- maintaining a clean, safe workspace
- functioning as a team member with a willingness to help where and when help is needed
Education and Experience
High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
Knowledge of basic hand sewing skills
- ability to use domestic sewing machine for basic sewing
- ability to follow directions
- ability to stand for long periods of time
- ability to lift 20lbs
- ability to work with others
- strong communication skills
