Overview:

Cost Accountant
Location: Somerset, New Jersey


Purpose


To support the Director of Finance in matters relating to overall company accounting functions.


Your Responsibilities

  • Coordinate month end closing processes and journal entries.
  • Oversee invoice processing.
  • Analysis of G/L account reconciliations.
  • Oversee intercompany accounting processes.
  • Review cycle count procedures with inventory team and document variances monthly. Assist in yearly inventory audit with external auditors.
  • Work with operation team to coordinate the fixed asset cycle (purchase, AUC, retirement, or impairment).
  • Support annual audits (internal/external).
  • Provide timely and accurate KPI’s including deviations from planned spending, service level (on-time deliveries), back orders, inventory turnover, gross margins, etc.
  • Review, investigate and explain production variances on a routine basis.
  • Monthly management reporting actual vs. planned, material, labor variance, inventory net changes (reserves, revaluation, cycle count), etc.
  • Maintain knowledge of current accounting concepts.
  • Support Value Stream managers in Lean business transformation initiatives.
  • Support ad hoc reporting and analysis.
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned.

Your Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of SAP costing attributes required.
  • High intermediate to advanced MS Excel skills.
  • Strong financial and accounting background, including an understanding of profit and loss, balance sheet, cash flow management, general finance and budgeting knowledge, and generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Effective problem solver.
  • 2+ years in the Life Sciences (preferably medical devices) industry.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Capable of working in a fast-paced, transformative environment.
  • Self-starter and passionate about contributing to the delivery of life saving/sustaining products.
  • Success at change management (orchestrating, enabling and/or participating).
  • Strong grasp of GAAP accounting and general accounting concept.

Physical Demands


Ability to sit for extended periods of time at a computer workstation. Occasionally required to stand, move about inside the office area to access files. Frequently communicates with employees of all levels as well as outside vendors. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
