Description
The Kentucky Board of Cosmetology's mission is to serve the Commonwealth by providing educational, health, and regulatory standards for all aspects of the beauty industry. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

- Inspect salons and cosmetology schools in an assigned area.
- Investigate violations.
- Submit reports to the board office.
Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: NONE
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: NONE
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Experience in the health, investigation, or inspection field will substitute for the required college on a year-for-year basis. Two years of experience as a licensed cosmetologist will substitute for each year of the required education.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must possess a valid driver's license prior to appointment in this classification. http://www.kbhc.ky.gov/. Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this classification. Employing agency is responsible for ensuring employee possesses and maintains required licensure(s), certification(s) or other credentials.
Working Conditions
Travel throughout state. Perform work in all types of weather conditions. Exposure to products, chemicals, and instruments used in cosmetology salons and cosmetology schools.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
