What you'll do:

Maintains offender records including fingerprints/photographs/case histories/sentence and judgement papers/legal forms/releases; computes discharge dates including conditional releases and time credit dates

Receives, or supervises the receipt and processing of sentence and judgement papers for new offenders and offenders already assigned to the Missouri Department of Corrections; reviews and verifies court documents for correct charge/sentence length/program eligibility/jail time credit

Maintains computerized offender records ensuring accuracy of sentence and judgement information; edits information and provides detailed reports to appropriate personnel for corrections/modifications to the system; interviews offenders and responds to correspondence explaining time credits, sentence structure calculations, detainers, writs, calculation of release dates

Appears and testifies in court concerning offender records and identification information such as fingerprints and photographs

Manages the operation of a facility offender records office; supervises/trains support staff in record keeping and identification tasks

Prepares and furnishes, or supervises the preparation of, certified copies of sentence and judgement papers/offender records and other identification materials to law enforcement agencies, prosecuting attorneys, courts, other officials involved in the case; prepares, or supervises the preparation of, reports including offender movement, releases, escapes, violations

Responds to inquiries from court officials, attorneys, judges, law enforcement agencies, and/or offender's families relating to offender's records, while maintaining confidentiality and security of offender records; stores records for discharged or paroled offenders on-site or oversees storage at archives; exercises considerable independence in the performance of responsibilities under general administrative direction; work is reviewed for compliance with facility and departmental policies and procedures, and with Missouri Statutes; performs other related work as assigned

Prepares/supervises the preparation of, escape warrants/documents for extradition/facility transfers/releases; performs or supervises identification functions including fingerprinting and photographing of offenders and facility personnel; performs or supervises the assembly and processing of records for offender movement into and out of the facility; arranges for proper disposition of offender's personal effects

All you need for success:

Minimum Qualifications:

One or more years of experience as a Corrections Records Officer II with the Missouri Department of Corrections OR

Three or more years of experience under the supervision of a Corrections Records Officer (or other title with comparable responsibilities) recording and filing criminal records, including responsibility for determining compliance with criminal statutes and calculating discharge dates, and possession of a high school diploma or proof of high school equivalency
